I installed it without washing it because I was too impatient and excited to just put it in my room already, but there was a slight smell to it and I found myself to be itchy, so I think I had an allergy to it from not washing it. Maybe dust mites? Idk. But I folded the top and washed it in the bath tub (because that's the only place it could fit) with some laundry soap and fragrance to make it smell better. I dried it off by patting it down with a towel and then hanging it up like normal. The initial smell is gone now and the itch is gone too. For installation I used only the adhesive squares that came with it to put it up (rather than the screws) and it's holding up well. The canopy was hanging too low at first because the straps are long, but I just decided to tie all the straps together to make it higher and it worked. Overall, worth it. It gives amazing beautiful pink princess vibes. I just wish I washed it before installing, because the smell and itchiness made it hard to sleep.

Beautiful addition to my granddaughters room she loves the beauty it adds to her room and the lights are so 😍 pretty! NOTE~standard ceiling height makes hanging the canopy difficult, as they hang too low and adjustment to the hanging straps makes it lopsided~after the frustrations of trying to get it to hang higher etc my husband and I used a staple gun to secure the hanging hoop to the ceiling! Worked great. I got the idea from a previous review as well we’re trying to get it to hang proper!!

This canopy is absolutely gorgeous. It's transformed my kids' bedroom into a princess fairytale fantasy castle. High quality and easy to install, but the star lights are SO bright. My little one would like to keep them on as a nightlight but they are much much brighter than needed and we've had a harder time getting her to fall asleep since installing. We are now planning on plugging them into a smart outlet to have them turn off automatically, but my 5 year old is not happy about it. I may end up getting a different string off lights that can be dimmed.

absolutely gorgeous! i would have never thought the top was quite as wide as it is! i love it. the material is great, its very big so its fairly on a heavier side. it smells quite bad upon opening. like it’s not a smell you could handle much of. i washed it in the bathtub with clothes detergent, let it dry while mostly using a towel to dry it and the smell was gone. definitely a labor of love but so worth it!

It's beautiful. It's definitely made for higher ceilings. I consider mine normal height. I put it above my daughters full size bed and it hung so low from the ceiling. I tried to shorten the strings but realized it bends the top ring so I couldn't. It was from Santa so I couldn't really return it plus I got it early and was past the return window. I ended up getting white hooks and spreading them out. Works ok. Also the length is soooo long. I guess I could cut it? It is a really nice canopy. I would say if you have high ceilings this is for you. The star lights it comes with are very pretty also. It's a bummer I drilled the screws in the ceiling. I'm gonna have to unscrew and fill at some point.
