Description

Versace is launching a new fragrance for men – Eros inspired by and deeply connected with Greek mythology. The aim of this edition is to reveal and release unrestrained passion and to accentuate desire. The fragrance was named after Greek god of love and son of goddess Aphrodite – Eros. Inspiration by ancient Greece has lasted since the time when Gianni Versace raised his fashion empire and took goddess Medusa as symbol of the brand to adorn numerous products of the house, among them also the new flacon of men's fragrance Eros. The new perfume Eros is the first in the past five years to be launched and aimed at men. Donatella Versace's desire was to fit the fragrance into the concept of the Versace brand and to depict style and significance of long-lasting design, quality and popularity. "Eros is truly the DNA of the house of Versace" - explains Donatella. "We have a Greek motive making us think about ancient Greece, antiquities and mythology, while turquoise color represents the Mediterranean. That is Versace!" Eros was created by Aurelien Guichard of Givaudan and it was announced as fresh, woody and slightly oriental. The fragrance includes mint oil combined with green apple and Italian lemon. Warmth is provided by tonka mixed with Venezuelan ambroxan and geranium flowers giving a fougere twist to the fragrance this way. Flacon of the new fragrance for men Eros is created of turquoise color glass with head of Medusa on the body of the bottle and on its top. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml EDT, along with accompanying perfumed body care products. Face of the advertising campaign is Brian Shimansky, while photographers are Mert & Marcus. Donatella wanted a man-gladiator for the new campaign, who is fighting for what he wants, fighting for his goals. "This is a fragrance for a man who is his own master. I was hesitant on ordering a fragrance off Amazon but once it got here it really is authentic, not only does it smell amazing it has amazing projection. For it being an EDT it lasts pretty long, it is a real compliment getter and I usually use this for parties and is really effective in those types of scenarios. The bottle size is more than I expected since this is the first time I’ve bought a bottle that is 6.7 oz and it’s a pretty big size bottle. The bottle design is overall impressive with it looking like a bottle you can have out on display. This is my absolute favorite men’s cologne. It’s the second bottle I’ve purchased for my husband, and it’s easy to see why - the scent is luxurious, refined, and long-lasting without being overpowering. It has that unmistakable Versace sophistication that stands out but still feels wearable for everyday use. The glass bottle is beautiful and has a solid, high-end feel with a striking design. Versace Eros is one of those colognes that instantly gets attention. From the very first spray, you get that fresh, sweet, minty vibe that hits hard in the best way. It smells clean, confident, and sexy the type of scent that turns heads when you walk past. For an EDT, the performance is impressive. You can easily get 7-9 hours on skin, and even longer on clothes. It projects strong in the first couple hours, so people around you will definitely notice.     • Vanilla Mints in a bottle

At this point, I own 34 different colognes and this Eros was one I didn't pick out. I'm trying to review the ones I bought from Amazon so the verified label shows up since I think it's crazy that I do own this many colognes. Nearly all of the colognes were bought this past (2014) holiday season. I had zero experience with Versace's fragrances. I also had read the very strong varying opinions about it on fragrance sites. This is what I've learned about colognes and people from this experience: There are more people who bash colognes solely because they view the cologne as "trendy" than those who think it's a bad scent. I don't think the average person who "dislikes" trendiness realizes that a large percentage of cologne buyers aren't in the trendy crowd. This Eros didn't blow me away or make me fall in love with it. Does it smell bad? Not at all. It's fairly clean and even refreshing smelling. The first thing I said when I sprayed it on my arm was, "Reminds me a lot of Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male." Having said that, I understand, much like me, a lot of you don't have any idea what JPG Le Male is or how it smells. I'll tell you what I get out of it. It's minty with flowers and it's vanilla. I can even see why people would complain about it smelling like "every other" vanilla cologne being put out these days, but to the complainers, up until this holiday season I didn't know about hardly any of those other vanilla colognes. I knew Givenchy Pi and Guerlain's Habit Rouge. It just happens, I had bought a bottle of the previously mentioned JPG Le Male at a local discount clothing store maybe a week before my wife bought me this Eros. Since then, I've also found out by buying these Dior's Fahrenheit 32, Cartier's Roadster and Mugler's A*men that it's true, there's a lot of flowery, sweet colognes on the market. It doesn't take anything away from any of them for me. This Eros has a good longevity of 7-10 hours, but wouldn't dare recommend wearing it in summer. It reminds me a lot of Le Male, so if you have that you might want to reconsider whether you want to buy this scent, but while it has similarities to those others I listed, it still stands on its own pretty well. I doubt I'll ever buy it for myself, but that's mainly because I have 34 bottles of cologne. One last thing, as unimportant as this should be, the bottle really is nice. I think the bottle and it being vanilla led my wife to buying it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes vanilla/mint colognes, especially those who don't spend their day smelling other people to see what is trendy and what isn't. If you're not one of those people and like vanilla/mint, you'll most likely be very happy about buying Eros. ... show more
