Description

Verbatim M DISC optical media is the new standard for digital archival storage. Unlike traditional optical media, which utilize dyes that can break down over time, data stored on an M DISC is engraved on a patented inorganic write layer – it will not fade or deteriorate. This unique engraving process renders these archival grade discs practically impervious to environmental exposure, including light, temperature and humidity. The Verbatim M-Disc 4X BDXL is inkjet and hub printable, allowing you to create custom disc surfaces and artwork for your discs. Make sure that the 98925 SKU label shows made in Taiwan. If it says made in Japan, the discs are 6x, not 8x as advertised.

Before I bought these, I did a price comparison and found these to be the best-priced M disks for the money at the amount of gb. However, eight of the twenty-five didn't work. On two occasions, an error message blamed my computer for the system being too "busy." Okay, maybe so. That still leaves six disappointments for vague reasons like data can't be verified after being written, even though the thing is new and burning for the first and only time. I think I might try different M disks next time, but maybe I'll have the same problem. I have no idea; just have to try it. ... show more

Some of you may already have experienced data corruption and disintegration with fast performing storage medias, like NVMe SSDs. I for one surely have had that experience, and I was looking for a robust and reliable means of storage, and stumbled upon M-Disc by Millenniata. Unfortunately, disc media is on the obsolescence, and the companies making disc media technology also went down to the abyss, including Millenniata. Fortunately, Verbatim is still standing strong with disc media storage technology, and the M-Disc Blu-Ray writable disc is the pinnacle of archive storage. I have made copies of my most cherished memories without a hitch, and reading them back was smooth and easy. They are not the fastest storage media, but they to seem to be permanent and intact. I also tried the ink-jet disc label on one of my software backup disc. The label printed out just the way I wanted, and dried onto the disc fairly quickly. ... show more

One issue is that the software does not always recognize the capacity of the disks, so there is a manual step required to select the capacity. The software defaults to interpreting that these disks are only 25GB, when in fact they are 100GB.

No problems burning from two different Blu-ray drives (LG drive M-disc compatible). No problems printing on white surface. Failed to play on one older Sony model with latest firmware available (dated May, 2012). Newer players from Sony, Panasonic and LG seem to have no problem with this media.

I have used Verbatim media for many many years. Dvd-r, BD-R, and now M-DISC. These discs have not failed on any burn or read after burning. I fully trust Verbatim branded products as their quality control and customer commitment are second to none.
