I’m taking a 22 hour flight to Australia in November and have been looking for a tote bag for a few weeks, so that I could carry the tote as my personal item on the airplane. Most of the bags I was considering were leather (heavy) and uncomfortable against the body. A friend suggested I look at Vera Bradley totes and after reading the reviews, I ordered this one in bright red. It is perfect! Beautiful, well-made, large, with a secure zipper across the top of the bag - and bright enough that I won’t walk away and leave it somewhere. A really good purchase! Edit: Well, I dragged my Vera Bradley tote bag all over Australia and New Zealand for 28 days and it still looks brand new. Threw it in my washer on the delicate cycle with cool water and hung to dry - looks perfect. Still happy, still love it!

I am a Principal in an elementary school. I bought this tote in black and use it daily for work. Each day, I pack an 8" x 5" planner/binder, my MacBook, glasses/sunglasses in hard cases, an extra pair of shoes (sometimes), and usually a book or a few magazines along with a bottle of water. There is room for all of my belongings with six large pockets inside. The hidden pocket on the top is a bonus...I usually keep my keys and my cell phone there to grab quickly when I need to. The tote is roomy, but not too big, and it's stylish. I didn't think twice about the price because I know I'll get my money's worth. I have other Vera Bradley products that I have had for 10 or more years that still look like new. I just ordered the front zip wristlet to go with the tote and will no longer carry a pocketbook. The tote and the wristlet together will be more than enough!

The bullet points and answered questions are not necessarily correct for this bag, so I wanted to write a review to help clear things up. I got the Bahama Bay, which is a nice bright color, and I am hoping to keep it that way. The bullet points currently say that this is cotton, but since I have another Vera Bradley with the same quilted twill pattern (the triple zip, but in black), I was pretty sure this was polyester microfiber and yes, it is. Sturdy, and well made, as you're expecting. It will clearly be a long lived bag as long as I can keep it clean, and yes, it's machine washable. From the Vera Bradley site: "Product Care: Close all zippers before laundering, machine wash cold, gentle cycle, use only non-chlorine bleach as needed; line dry". I haven't had a washable work bag before, so this seems a ginormous win. Also from that site, in case the info here gets further confused: "Microfiber is lightweight, solid-colored polyester. Exterior features a front slip pocket, a zip pocket and a hidden top pocket. Interior features six slip pockets. Zip closure." The interior pockets are open at the top, and there are three on each side of the bag. "Dimensions: 15.00" w x 14.50" h x 6.00" d with 12.00" strap drop". There is no cardboard insert in this bag, though there is a sturdy piece of plastic (I think) at the bottom (inside; non removable). I wish that there were a full-length pocket somewhere for protecting papers or the like, but I might just carry around a folio for that purpose. So: this bag is everything I was hoping it would be (aside from the full-length pocket, which is just something I forgot to check for), and the only question I have is how easy it will be to keep clean. But I love the bright colors and the sturdy fabric, and this is definitely a keeper.

I like everything about this bag. No crazy print for one thing. I got red, which is seasonless and easy to spot, which is good if you get distracted and happen to put it down. If you put this down, you won’t likely leave without it. It stands out. Great fabric, soft and durable. The bag is lightweight and has a lot of useful organization. The interior is lovely and light colored enough so it’s not a black hole. I can carry everything I need without it getting too heavy, and this includes my iPad and cell phone. There is a dedicated cellphone pocket that is so well done. You won’t have any problem stowing the phone safely and also retrieving it easily. I have bought Vera Bradley bags for the last 25 years and finally I said enough as I felt they had lost their wonderful thoughtful construction and they didn’t offer solid colors. With this bag they nailed it, and the old attention to detail is back. I’m very happy with it.

Great bag! I bought this for a weekend at the beach. It fit all of my clothes, makeup, and toiletries! I just had to bring a second bag for towels. Since then, I've used this bag for various weekend trips as well as used it for work. It easily fits my laptop, iPad, various chargers, pens, and plenty of folders/notebooks. I think this bag is a little too big to use as a purse unfortunately but its so useful for so many other things!

Most comfortable strap that lets bag be secure against body allowing hands free movement.Zipper closure adds extra security.Good amount of pockets to organize with room to add larger bulk articles.Washable makes it better then leather.

Unfortunately, I must return it because it is too large for me. I bought it for a commuter bag. My main required feature of a commuter bag is it must have 3 outside pockets. The slide pockets inside are huge and there are many. I got the gray color and it is beautiful, really a blue gray or a light slate. The pictures show it standing up so I was surprised it came folded flat. The bottom stitching is sturdy, so maybe it would flatten over time and stand without puddling. Very nice, well made, just bigger than I need.
