Description

Babassu Oil is obtained from the seeds of the Babassu palm tree. The main cultivation area is the State of Maranhao in Northeastern Brazil. The seeds contain approx. 50% oil, which is mechanically pressed. The material is solid at room temperature. Residue substances are removed by a gentle refining process and physical bleaching. The end product is a very light, odorless fat, which boasts remarkable stability. Non-GMO. Made without pesticides. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is it really 100% pure? What are the ingredients? Yes! there is only one ingredient: 100% Pure & Natural Babassu Oil (Orbignya Oleifera). Q: What is the texture/feel? Is it oily (like Coconut Oil)? It's an oil, but it has a funny melting point. It sort of hovers between solid and liquid. It is oily, but it dries very quickly and feels drier than other oils. It is not a greasy-drying oil. It's very unique. Q: What is the effect of Babassu Oil on the skin? It helps maintain the skin moisture in balance with a refreshing effect on hypersensitive and itchy skin. It provides a sensual and soft sensation on the skin. It makes the skin smooth without leaving any trace of fat on it. Q: Is Babassu Oil used in food? Babassu oil is primarily used for skin and hair care, but it can also be used in food and as a cooking oil. What are carrier oils? “Carrier Oil” is a term generally used in the contexts of aromatherapy and cosmetic recipes for natural skin and hair care. Carrier oils and essential oils are made from plants. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils and “carry” them to your skin. That’s because essential oils are potent and can cause irritation when applied directly to your skin. A Carrier Oil is a vital aspect of an aromatherapy massage or a natural cosmetic such as a soap, bath oil, body oil, cream, lip balm, lotion, or other moisturizer, as it can affect the usefulness of the massage and the color, scent, therapeutic properties, and shelf life of the final product, respectively. Most carrier oils are unscented or lightly scented and don’t interfere with an essential oil’s therapeutic properties. They may be used alone or with other oils to nourish your skin. Cold Pressing It is a chemical-free process that involves placing the nuts or seeds in a horizontal press that has an 'expeller,' which is a rotating screw. The screw drives the nuts and seeds through a barrel- shaped hollow and compresses them until the high pressure squeezes out the oil, which seeps out through the opening, while the ‘meal,’ or the debris, remains inside the barrel. The oil is then filtered, resulting in the finished product. Due to the absence of solvent residues in Cold Pressing, the outcome is cleaner, purer oils that are higher in natural colors and scents. Benefits & Uses Skin Emollient This non-greasy oil is an excellent skin emollient, especially for oily and dry skin types. It gets easily absorbed by the skin, making it soft and smooth. It can moisturize the skin and keep it hydrated. It can make dry and flaky skin smooth and soft; while it can make greasy skin appear great and lustrous. The oil, when applied on the skin, balances the natural oils of the skin. Great Cooking Medium Babassu oil has been used for cooking for ages. What makes it a great cooking is its composition. The oil contains mostly lauric acid, but it also contains a blend of stearic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and oleic acid. These acids are excellent for body and make babassu oil similar to coconut oil, which is also considered a very beneficial oil. Hence, you can use babassu oil as a substitute for coconut oil. Hair Conditioner Apply a little babassu oil before you shampoo your hair. It will ease hair dryness. After applying and washing off the oil, your hair will be glossy and shiny. It helps to restore the lost elasticity in your hair and makes it appear voluminous and full. This is the perfect oil for treating damaged and brittle hair. Gives You Baby-Soft Lips Forget about buying chemical-laden lip balms. Instead, mix a little babassu oil with some Shea butter and apply to your lips. You will find chapped lips disappear, and you get sexy, soft lips that will be the cynosure of all eyes. • Read this for amazing skin care advice!
This babassu oil is amaaaaaazing. I have super sensitive skin, so I tend to just leave it alone (No wash method) and it stays okay. But now I am mid thirties and seeing early signs of aging. I have recently tried several “gentle” “natural” anti-aging products and they all aggravate my skin—rashes, pimples, some even cause respiratory allergies—so I have been making every effort to switch all my skin care and cosmetics to natural minimal ingredient products. I did a ton of research on the best oils, best way to maintain skin health, etc. Turns out it’s all about the skin ph, which should be around 5.5 (slightly acidic). Soaps, even mild, make the skin alkaline, which damages the skin’s barrier, which in turn requires a toner to bring it back to acidic, which then requires extra moisture, which causes more pimples, which causes need for more soap, etc. It’s all a money making scam that leads you to search for more chemical filled products!!! None of which are benefitting your skin. Plant oils are all naturally mildly acidic (perfect for skin). Even better are saturated oils, as they will not oxidize on your skin. Research shows polyunsaturated fats oxidize on skin and actually causing aging over time. Think your Argan, Rosehips, etc type oils. They are not actually helping long term! Babassu oil provides so many benefits to skin and also does not clog pores, so it’s an excellent anti aging facial moisturizer! It comes solid at room temperature which makes it so easy to apply. Less messy than other oils I have used. It makes my skin literally feel like baby soft butter. I almost always have dry dull skin and some acne (probably from messing with ph) and I already see a difference after only a few uses. My new skin care routine is remove makeup with castor oil, wash my face with raw honey (also mild acidic ph), once a week yogurt mask for exfoliation, then moisturize with babassu oil and/or squalane. It sinks in so fast and feels so soothing. No gross smell or anything. In fact, it smells naturally sweet. I also make my own sunscreen with squalane oil mixed with zinc oxide powder. I’ve been wearing the purest mineral makeup I can find. I use aloe for primer and I make my own setting spray out of glycerin and water. No fillers, chemicals, fragrance, etc. my skin is LOVING IT! I haven’t had one pimple in over a week and my skin is amazingly soft and hydrated. That’s saying a lot for dry winter skin. My husband even said I “look like high school again”! So I’m turning back the clock, ladies! Get this oil, you will not be disappointed! Take a good hard look at your routines and ingredients, even in natural and gentle products. Preservatives can be aggravating, even natural ones. If you can’t eat it, it shouldn’t be sinking into your skin either! I am writing this review in exchange for a free product. But only because I LOVE this product. I wouldn’t waste my time writing a review on a product I don’t want another container of! 😬 ... show more

  • Leaks
I'd buy this product again however, most would not. The oil itself seems of good quality but the, what I suspect as Indie, assembled container leaks. It was packaged in a ziplock but still leaked, somehow, with the lock in place. It has a sealed tamper covering over the pot but the oil dislodged that so it's useless. The Indie label came off due to the oil leakage. I'm for supporting Indies and don't have a issue with the above but I thought I'd be helpful in reporting it for those who might be annoyed by these things. Be sure what you order with it can handle being covered in some oil. ... show more

  • NOT Babassu Oil!
FALSE ADVERTISING! Received this product today and it’s NOT babassu oil. It’s sunflower lecithin, which is a cheaper oil. It even lists the false ingredient on the package but not in the description here. If you’re looking for true babassu oil, DON’T order this!

  • Nice conditioning oil
My first time trying babassu oil and so far so good. As of yet I have only used it on my skin & it skins in immediately lends a softeness & plumpness to my skin minus any oiliness which is nice! I got this with the intent of using it on my hair to see if it would work better than coconut oil. I have not used it as of yet on my hair but I know everything natural hair care product that I have seen with babassu oil in it seems to be a hit (i.e. Mielle Babassu oil deep conditioner) and thought I would see what the hype was about :) I plan on melting this & using it in either a diy hot oil treatment and/or mixing it up in my deep conditioner and see what it does. ... show more

  • 4oz is NOT that much but it's worth it
This oil is like coconut oil 2.0, literally better for cosmetic purposes in every way (I haven't tried it for cooking yet). It's a great moisture lock in your skincare routine, for removing makeup, for sealing moisture in your hair, etcetera. It's just an awesome oil and 100% worth the money despite my dissatisfaction with the size - idk why I thought 4oz would be bigger so it's more my fault than the manufacturer lol. Overall I loved it but the only thing I'd change is the packaging. ... show more

  • Arrived late and damaged
Arrived late and the container was cracked all the way down one side, oil leaking, with a broken lid. Hopefully I can replace it because I was excited about this oil. Can’t give a product use review
