This lawn aerator was easy to assemble and easy to use. It does not take a lot of muscle or power to roll this across the lawn. The spikes penetrate my lawn easily after a rain spell. My lawn needs regular aerating so this has made it an easier task. It is easy to store in my shed and fits on my wall holder. The material seems durable and good quality.

The VASALAID Lawn Aerator has a sturdy, heavy-duty feel that gives confidence during use. The pre-attached spikes make setup much quicker; just assemble the handle, and you’re ready to go. Once in motion, it rolls smoothly across the lawn, breaking up compacted soil effectively. It’s particularly good for medium-sized yards that need a bit of extra attention during the growing season. The spikes penetrate well into damp soil, and I noticed better water absorption after just a couple of passes. The handle feels comfortable and balanced, though a little extra grip padding would make long sessions easier. It does require some effort to push, especially on uneven or dry ground, but that’s to be expected with any manual aerator. I like that it doesn’t tear up the yard or leave deep gouges. It’s easy to clean off afterward and stores neatly in the garage. The metal drum and spikes feel durable enough to last several seasons without bending. Overall, it’s a dependable and straightforward tool for keeping your lawn healthy. While not effortless to use, it’s effective and built to last, which makes it worth keeping around for regular maintenance.

The roller and handle feel sturdy. Simple and straightforward, just push and go. After using it, my grass has looked greener and healthier since water, air, and nutrients can reach the roots better.

This is a nice well-built tool. Easy to put together. The handle is a good length and the spikes are attached well. I do not see it getting broken or wearing out. I tried using it right after putting it together. The ground was damp (rained the day before) but not soaked. As such the spikes barely penetrated the soil. I then weighed the "head" and it was 9.6 lbs which isn't much. After filling with rocks (see pics) it weighed 20.2 lbs, so considerably more. At this weight the spikes were going about halfway (maybe 2") into the ground. Our yard gets "played in" so particular spots (from badminton/volleyball, etc.) get compacted, and I was hoping this would be a way to loosen up those spots, but not gong to work for us. The soil is relatively sandy, so not hard at all. And with the spikes being as short/thin as they are, I unfortunately do not see where it will provide any benefit in our yard.

I grabbed this to help care for my lawn, and overall it’s a decent aerator. It works best on softer ground, but I found that it doesn’t give you much leverage or the right tips to really get into harder soil like some other aerators I’ve used. The build quality seems solid, but it does feel a bit pricey for what it is, especially since I’ve seen similar tools for around $40–$50. Overall, it gets the job done and is okay for lighter use, but there are definitely some limitations to be aware of before buying.

The media could not be loaded. Only for soft soils. We got it to go in through the softer area of the yard. It handled that acceptably well, although it did take several passes. But it wouldn't manage the harder ground - please see video. For reference, this is Orange County, CA. The ground is not particularly hard. The ad says the spikes will go in "up to" 2 inches, so technically it is correct. But all it really did was break up the grass mat a bit. Three important notes. One: it did NOT have the advertised "two screw construction". Again, please see video. While there were indeed two holes for screws in the fork, the handle had only been drilled out for one set. I don't think the second screw really would have made that much of a difference, honestly, but it still loses a star for that. It was easy enough to put together, but that doesn't matter if it was mis-made. Two: in the video we're only using two of the three handle extensions. It can be longer if you wanted it to be, although I'm not sure why you would. Three: we did not put any stones in. If you choose to you're going to need to have your own set of Allen wrenches, because it did not come with one that will undo the cylinder side. And they will have to be the right size; i.e.: large enough to not fall out of the holes on the side, but big enough to weigh enough to add enough weight to make a difference. Gravel won't work. Four stars, which is probably kind. Three and a half is closer.

The media could not be loaded. This yard tool can be used as a DYI yard project. The bright color makes it easy to locate in a pile of grass. It really breaks the ground and saves money from hiring someone. It can be adjusted to different height levels. It can be used for several purposes and projects across the landscape.
