Good: 1. Assembly was fine. I did it with the tools provided in about 30-45 min. 2. There were times when holes did not line up perfectly but that was due to my own error, not the manufacturers. These instructions are (more-or-less) in picture-form only, so you really need to pay attention to the schematics in order to not put a brace/rod/board on backwards, etc. 3. Every part (save the boards) comes with at least one *extra* in case you lose one. 4. The piece itself seems sturdy and capable of decent wear-and-tear. Bad: 1. I do not like the fact that the fasteners that attach the shelf above to the horizontal middle-shelf below are visible and chrome, as opposed to covered with an insert or matte in finish. I get that this piece is supposed to be inexpensive, but cheap inserts surely wouldn't have hurt the bottom line. I'll just have to put tall items against the mid-walls to cover this up. A small peeve. 2. The metal ladder-frames on either side are each made of upper & lower pieces which need to slide into one another and then be bolted together. The process of sliding one into the other is a lot more rigorous than any other aspect of assembly. It took elbow grease and a bit of finagling. But when put together, felt sturdy and reassuring. I'll update if anything egregious happens, but so far I'm not regretting the purchase. It's cheap, looks decent, and can be sent off in the future with a child to college. ... show more

Beautiful bookshelf. Shorter then I thought it would be, but that's probably my fault. Very sturdy and tall enough to hold my taller books. Comes in several little pieces but easy to read markings and all tools come with it as well. Took about an hour to put together by myself but rather easy. I'm obsessed! ... show more

Just loved the shelves. But very difficult to screw on the top shelf. The screws well not screw in all the way. Company needs to figure out a better way to attach that shelf. It kept going crooked in me, no mater how I layed it down or stood it up. And the wood pegs broke off on that center top board, when I tried to line it up. Maybe 2 people are needed on that shelf. So my top shelf is just setting on top with 2 chips of wood front the screws and pegs. ... show more
