Like many people, I have assembled many DIY pieces of furniture in my days, including some from well-known Nordic brands and red circle and blue store brands. This is probably one of the highest quality DIY bookshelves I have encountered. The panels and shelves are thick and solid. I did not test it, but their claim for the load capacity is believable. They also include all the tools needed, including a full-size screwdriver! Some features, like the back panel secured in a channel with the holders, are a much better design than the short dress nails often used to secure the panel in other DIY bookshelves. Overall, I can see some thoughtfulness and quality in design and manufacturing. All holes align, all hardware pieces are the correct size, and come with one extra of each type in case one is lost or breaks for some reason. Certainly, this isn't as good as most pre-assembled bookshelves from furniture stores. If you're willing to spend 2-4 times more on an equivalent plain function-based bookshelf, they often have a solid one-piece back panel and stronger joints with nails, screws, and adhesives, or, for higher quality (and price), actual wood joints. However, for the price, this offers great value for a bookshelf with quality. A pro tip: If you have a decent tool set, get the T-15 bit because it makes the construction process much easier. Unlike most products I found these exceptionally easy to assemble for somebody like me with disabilities that affect their motor skills and their ability to hold things and put them together by myself. For somebody like me just took about an hour for both of them, but most people should easily be able to assemble them in about 30 to 45 minutes tops. They are heavy and can hold a wide variety of heavy books, tomes, and even grimoires ( if you know you know) currently mine are filled with a variety of large heavy hardcovers and the tops are lined with various hourglasses and trinkets I have collected over the years. If you want some simple bookshelves that can take a beating while adding a beautiful accent of wooden color to your home environment or office I highly highly recommend purchasing these. ... show more

Ordered 2 of these a couple months apart. 1st one was amazing very sturdy and easy to put together my issue and reason for 4 stars is the 2nd one they sent me, its a little different than the first one and definitely not as sturdy. Putting together your own bookcase is interesting and normally I have someone else put together furniture. This time I wanted to surprise my husband by getting everything done by myself. I'm over 55 so this was a little more effort because I had to sit and rest in between exertions. First you have to get everything out of the box and then you have to use a screw driver and Allen wrench to put the bookcase together. Frankly I found the instructions easy to follow and all the items needed were well labeled in little bags. Yes they actually include a screw driver and Allen wrench which was very helpful! One person can put this together by themselves but two people would make it slightly easier. The pieces of wood were perfectly packaged so there was no damage. I used those "moving men" sliders to move the heavy about 40 pound box into the living room and then I used them again to move the whole bookcase into the office. The one thing I didn't have was the hammer they suggested using to knock in the little feet for the bottom of the shelves. I used my regular hammer which I put two napkins over and fastened it all with some packaging tape. That worked. I take no responsibility for you if it doesn't work for you. :) For me it was an easy solution and I didn't have to buy a second softer hammer. So yes, I'm very happy with this and now I put about 93 books on the shelves and it is holding up well and I'm pleased to have my own little library of books to read in my office. ~The Rebecca Review ... show more

It was fairly easy to assemble with the directions. At first it didn’t seem like it was going to be sturdy enough, and I was afraid it would fall over. But, once I added all my DVDs the weight held it down well. The color was also darker than I expected, but I still like it: I was able to get rid of all my DVD racks, and put them all in one place which saves me space. I love the bookshelf. This is perfect for me. It was easy to build, is solid and has some variability for shelf height which is nice. It fit perfectly and gave enough room above it for my air purifier to fit on top. It's great for the price, but there are some really questionable things about it. The instructions were not complete, some of the parts were not labeled like in the manual and doing several of the steps destroyed the surface of where contact was being made. Besides that?
