With working from home, I've been looking for, and tried, three different standing desks and ended up returning all of them: * Glass top standing desk from Costco: Great value, but returned because it didn't go low enough (min 28", I'm 6'2", 235lbs and my wrist/upper arm would rest on the edge when typing) and the glass top prevented me from attaching my monitor/laptop stand. It was also not deep enough. * Laminate top no-name brand purchased locally: Great value but didn't go low enough nor high enough to be used comfortably. The motor also stopped working twice and I had to unplug it and replug it in order to get it working which didn't bode well for longevity. * Laminate top no-name brand from Amazon: Great value, but again, didn't go low enough and reviews stated that when something didn't work, it was a nightmare to get warranty work/parts. The price of the Vari desk really kept me from trying it but after returning the three listed above, and realizing that I will be working from home for the foreseeable future, I felt the investment was worth it but only if the I felt the desk brought enough to the table. Here's my thoughts on why I kept the Vari 48x30 desk and I believe it is definitely worth the price: * It has the widest range of height adjustment that I found. 25" to 50", which I found critical. When in the seated position, I want to keep my forearms at a 90-degree angle and have my fingers naturally fall to the keyboard without my forearms touching the desk edge and this is possible with the Vari desk. Since there is no crossbar between the legs, I can slide my chair under the desk when in the standing position, just like I did at our corp office prior to COVID-19. * The quality is impeccable. The way the legs slide at an angle into the frame through four slots each, and then held in place by two screws is excellent, very strong and steady but easy to install. The quality of all parts feels superior to what I experienced with the other desks. Everything fits extremely well and it took all of 15 minutes to have it assembled and upright, ready to go. * I wasn't sure about the 30" depth of the desk, the others were 24-26", but it actually turns out that I love having that extra space. It also allowed my monitor/laptop to be further away at a much more comfortable distance. * The top is a laminate and very sturdy. I ordered the white/gray combination and it is very easy to clean. * The two "hooks" that are included work great, allowing me to have a place to hang my headphones. The additional accessories, like the velcro cable ties were an unexpected surprise and very useful. * I ended up returning the Vari cable holder because it interfered with my monitor/laptop stand/mount but it was also very well designed, with the desktop having predrilled holes with metal receivers for the screws and it took only a few minutes to install. Do make sure it will work with whatever you plan to mount to the desk. Overall, I would highly recommend the Vari desk. As others have stated, the quality is outstanding and well worth the price. I also like that I have a known company that I can reach out to if any problems arise. I am very happy that I tried it and if you are looking for something that you will use long term and it is within your budget, it is worth the cost. ... show more

    • Amazing sturdy desk!
So I had ordered a competitor brand last week, but when I saw they delayed my shipment from August to October 30th, I decided to cancel and find another option. I had been eyeing the 60" Varidesk for awhile, but had gone with a competitor due to the lower price point. Ended up ordering this on Tuesday after cancelling the other desk order, and had an estimated delivery date of 3 days later! (8/14). Later that Tuesday I had already received the notification that the package had shipped. Several reviews as well as the product description noted that this ships in 2 boxes (legs in one desktop in another) so I wasn't sure if I would only be getting once piece. Not only did I get both parts delivered at the same time, I got it a day early! On to my review of the product: Setup: As easy as people say. I will say that the boxes are definitely on the heavy side. I was able to carry both inside on my own, but I also channeled He-Man prior to doing so; so be warned, you'll likely want two people to move it. The instructions came in the box with the stand. Extremely simple instructions. The desktop box is marked with up arrows to let you know which side of the desktop box should be up. The side that is up is the bottom-side of the desk. This is important, because when you open the desktop box, you'll follow instructions to install the full stand kit with the desktop still top-side down in the box. They also smartly include packaging that allows you to simply open up the plastic away from the desk to access the desktop. All in all once I had the boxes open and read the instructions, it took about 10 minutes to actually put the desk together. Once you have it together, you will definitely need 2 people to flip the desk over carefully and avoid any damage to the desktop. Make sure you flip it over towards the backside of the desk to avoid damaging the control panel. Function: The desk works perfectly. Extremely easy to program preset heights, and is quiet and quick when raising or lowering. I set mine at 42.0 while standing, and I notice virtually no movement when typing or using my mouse. When sitting I have it set at 28, and its sturdy as a brick. While this desk was a few hundred more than the other brand I had initially chosen, I have no regrets. it seems fantastic. Quality: As you've seen in other reviews, this desk feels like a high-quality product. It looks fantastic, and is just simply aesthetically pleasing. This desk is just amazing. It’s simply beautiful, very well built. Sturdy etc. I just can’t say enough good things about it! I will say, it is VERY heavy. And our office would be set up on the third floor of our house, that was definitely fun. But we got it up there and set up in under an hour! I am not disappointed. It’s so beautiful, the wood it beautifully stained. It’s think strong wood, amazing colors. The controls are all very well built. Very easy to assemble as the directions are easily understood put in step by step order. Even getting it flipped right side up after assembly was easier than we first thought. I must admit, I was a bit nervous but he flipped that thing right over and it didn’t budge or hurt a thing. Just amazing. I just wish they had it in “L” shape so I could have the same one. Sadly they didn’t and the one I got was no where near as nice as his. But I still get to enjoy it by looking over at it jealously lol. Definitely highly recommend and worth every penny! ... show more
