Great Product, Great Customer Service!

I purchased the 1/2" 50 foot version of this hose in May 2012 for use on my boat dock. It's been a great hose, I particularly like it for the light weight -- having to go up, over and around various dock chairs, chaises, tubes, boats, etc. A couple of weeks ago I went to use the hose, and it developed an approximately 2-inch long split in the hose and began spraying water everywhere. "Fine", I thought -- it wasn't very expensive and I had used it for 4 years, I like it, so I'll order another. I looked up my order history on Amazon and found the same hose, when I noticed it had a 10 year warranty listed in the description! I initially contacted Amazon for warranty details, and they were not able to help me. I then googled and found the manufacturers website and contacted Valterra customer service through the website. They replied to my email the very next morning, telling me what they would need for documentation (receipt, picture of damage). I used the Amazon order history to reprint the invoice and took a picture with my phone. Again, Valterra replied the very next morning (June 20th), letting me know they would honor the warranty and ship out a replacement. The replacement arrived today (July 6th) -- the holiday slowed delivery a couple of days. Anyway, this is one of the most positive experiences I've had with a company in awhile, so I felt compelled to write about it!

No leaks and perfect lengh for me

I needed a short hose that is dependable, as I hooked up a water filter to my RV, we live in it full-time. I need a hose to go from the city water to the outside filter, then Into my RV. The hose is for drinking water I hooked it up, and It did not leak as that is a goal and even a drip is not acceptable. No issues with this hose. I recommend this.

Works fine, small leak even with teflon tape

I was looking for a short hose to put between a faucet and the control center for my irrigation system (connectors, timers) so I can place the connectors on a stand which is easier for me to reach. Photo of my set up attached under customer photos. Turns out it is difficult to find a short water hose. Even though I don't need a water hose rated for drinking water this hose was the right length and I got it. Overall it works fine: the length is good and it handles my high water pressure fine. However, the connector to the faucet is plastic and even with a brand new washer and Teflon tape I have a small leak. Nothing major but you can see in the photo that the mulch under that connection is dark - it is always a bit wet. I don't have any other connections that leaks so I know how to make good connections with the aid of Teflon tape. The long hose with a metal connector that was used on this faucet before did not leak, so the problem is with this particular plastic connector. This hose is not totally perfect, but it has been at work for a few weeks and overall I am pleased with it. Ali Julia review

Great Hose, Excellent Customer Service
Size: 1/2 inch x 50 feet
I bought this hose because it had good ratings and good reviews. It was the right choice, but the one I got had a flaw. I noticed the hose had a 10-year warranty - and it started leaking after three months. I contacted the seller, to inquire about this issue. The rep mentioned that premature failure like this is rare. So she asked me to send a photo of the hose at the place where it leaked (right near where you attach the hose nozzle). She also requested my proof of purchase. Her return e-mail simply said that they will send me a new one. And they did. The new one doesn't seem to have the defect that the original one had. I expect it to work fine for years. That's what I call customer service that stands behind their product.

Extends out trailer wet bay

My setup is as follows. I think the filter should go as close to the RV city water inlet. The reasoning is that the hoses may harbor mold, bacteria, whatever. So, At the water faucet I connect a pressure reducer, then a wye adapter - this allows a second hose, then a 25 ft hose - of I need a longer hose, I attach a second 25 ft hose, then a filter, then the hose in this listing - this gets me into my wet bay, it is nice to have one, then a 90 degree fitting, and that screws into the city water inlet. This short hose is perfect. If you don't have a wet bay you can attach the filter directly to the 90 degree fitting or still the above house or even a short 6 inch stress relieving hose. At the faucet end I might use a 90 degree fitting depending on the exit angle of the faucet. My idea is to have the hoses be vertical rather than attach horizontal. Some folks use quick releases at every join. I haven't, so far. The biggest question is if your water pressure hurt by the ½ diameter of this hose. I've gone ½ inch diameter for my entire setup and pressure inside seems fine. I typically don't have multiple faucets, shower, external shower or toilet running at the same time. I do like that the ½ hoses coil into small lightweight bundles.

Not a light-weight hose

So I was looking for a type of white RV/boat hose that used to be sold by Home Depot. HD has stopped carrying them. The reason I wanted one is that the desired hose was very light-weight, making it much easier for me to haul around a large yard. Unable to tell which of the hoses that came up in an Amazon search for "white RV hose" was the coveted hose, I gambled on this one. And lost. :-D No, this is not the same. Turns out my hose (I belatedly discovered) was made by Colorite. When you attach the two together (so as to come up with 75 feet of hose length), you can see at a glance that the Valterra version is made exactly the same way as any other garden hose, except out of white material instead of green or gray. It certainly isn't as flexible as the beloved old hose. And instead of a metal fitting to attach to the hose bib, this thing has a plastic gadget. Try to imagine how long THAT will last in the 118-degree blast furnace that is an Arizona summer. Not sending it back: that seems like more trouble than it's worth, and besides, I've already thrown out the box. I will say, the plastic fitting doesn't leak (yet...). I doubt if it will kink the way the lightweight Colorite does (exuberantly!). If you don't mind having to wrestle a standard heavy hose, this one seems like a perfectly fine choice.
