  • Decent, but not for serious lifters working in higher weight ranges
Style: OB-HEX
I’ve had this bar for a year now. Pretty good value overall but there are some issues. This is better for those working in lower weight ranges, but not anyone planning to work with top sets of 400+. The raised sleeves are a great time saver. 1. The decal fell off within a couple days of having it. Not a big deal, but I’d expect it to last longer than that. 2. The knurling on the handles is VERY aggressive. My hands feel raw and eaten up after each use. Sure, I can use gloves or tape or something else, but I like to feel the weight without anything in between my hands and the bar. 3. The bar itself is not balanced. With lighter weight, it’s not a problem because the user can compensate during the lift. With heavy weight (300+) I have to pick up, see if it leans forward or back, set it down and then adjust grip. Have to repeat this process until I find the actual center of mass. Becomes harder to do this with heavier weight as just a 1/4 off will have the bar leaning forward or backward. 4. This one is my fault for not realizing, but should be noted. The loading sleeve is not very long if using bumper plates. If you’re planning to lift above 350 with bumper plates then you’ll run out of room for a collar/clamp on the bar. I had to purchase additional iron plates so I can fit the load. 5. Lastly, also my fault but people should be aware. I’m approaching the weight limit of 500. Had I realized I’d be lifting that much, I would have opted for a bar that can hold more weight. I’d advise anyone thinking about purchasing this to think about what their goals are and if they’ll need a bar that can accommodate more weight. I’ll undoubtedly need to sell this and order a bar that can hold at least 200 lbs more. ... show more

  • Almost perfect, but still a best buy.
Style: OB-HEX
I searched long and wide for a Hex or Trap Bar and I landed on this bar. As others have mentioned, assembly is a bit of chore (you should have your own tools; if you use the tools they included in the box, you will destroy your house in anger). I love the different grip options. Also, despite some answers to the contrary, you can do farmers carry with this bar (I am 6'2) unless you have gorilla long arms. It is solid and well built. The one awkward thing about the bar is that the bumper plates, when loaded, do not touch the ground and provide the support for the bar. The bar does have some rubber stoppers upon which it sits, but I am leery about dropping the bar on those. That takes some getting used to. You can understand why they did that based on the design of the bar, but still, it is awkward at first. You definitely want to use this bar with some shock absorbing mats underneath. There is nothing as good at this price point and the bar seems better than many options that are more expensive. Unless you plan on doing 500+ pound deadlifts, this is a great bar. ... show more

  • best trap bar ive ever used
Style: OB-HEX
Took a slight risk spending the extra money on this over the much cheaper, more basic trap bars, especially when it appeared to be a newer item with not too many reviews. This bar completely exceeded my expectations, best trap bar ive ever used. The whole thing is very well made and just feels really solid, very nice piece of equipment. The bars you load the plates on sits high enough so even 45 plates dont touch the ground, thus making it VERY easy to load plates on and off, fantastic improvement over the basic trap bar. The spinning handle with 3 grips is perfect as well. All 3 feel comfortable and deliver in different ways. The thick one is basically a fat grip built onto the bar, that thing wrecks your forearms. You can even bent over bar bell row with it and it works even better than my barbell. Overall extremely satisfied and somewhat surprised just how high quality this bar turned out to be, you will not be dissapointed. It does take a little effort to put together, takes about a good hour, well worth it though. ... show more

  • Great for the money
Style: OB-HEX
I was building my home gym and was missing a key element to my inventory. It's a great alternative to traditional barbell deads. It's a great tool to use to learn how to use proper form and mechanics. The 2 main reasons for this particular brand, the 3 grip handles and price. The only thing that can be annoying, but it's not a worry is putting the weights on. This is typical of most hex or trap bars. There is only one on the market that had a built-in tilt but, you could spend around $700 for that equipment. ... show more

  • This is the trap bar you want.
Style: OB-HEX
Excellent quality bar. Solid construction. Easy to assemble. (Using your own tools) The design of this bar allows / enforces proper form for deadlifts. The grips are really abrasive brand new. I suggest gloves or grip tape for comfort, especially as you add weight. It does come with spring clamps, but I recommend grabbing the clamp lock style as these tend to catch the ridges on the Olympic size bar. I don’t regret spending the extra money on this over the cheapie bars. It is obvious that this thing is built to last. ... show more

  • Solid bar but has some issues
Style: OB-HEX
*See attached pics* I dont know if the damage on this bar is due to company QC but it showed up with the packaging in rough condition. If I had been home I probably would have refused it. I decided to open it anyways and all the stuff inside was wrapped in thin bubble wrap and no styrofoam. It was all scratched and dinged up. The instructions for this are not step by step, there's a couple exploded views but it's hard to see how the parts go together. If you are used to putting stuff together it will take you about 45 minutes. Assemble this product carefully! There are sharp metal burrs on it. I got one metal splinter right in my hand from the chrome sleeves. I would take some light sandpaper over the burrs. I would also give it a quick rub down with oil so it doesn't rust. Once assembled it is a comfortable pain free deadlift. Pros -Very comfortable to use -Super easy to change plates Cons -Arrived scratches, dinged, and dented -Terrible instructions borderline useless -Razor sharp burrs sliced my hand open during assembly ... show more
