  • Easy to Use: Use on electric router, carving machine, edge trimmer, CNC and other automatic routers. All bits must be inserted in the collet in full length. The tool shank should be installed with a clamping depth of at least 1-inch to maintain the proper pressure carrying range. The larger the tool diameter, the smaller the spindle speed should be.
  • Tips: Always choose a router bit with a longer cutting edge than the workpiece. For example, use a tool with 1-inch cutting edge length when milling grooves of 1/2-inch depth. (It is NOT recommended that the cutting edge length equal to or less than 1/2-inch)

  • uxcell vs whiteside 6220 - Updated 28 Apr 2019 -Rating upped to 5 stars.
Size: 1/2" x 1-1/8"
First pic is the uxcell on cedar, 2nd pic is the whiteside on cedar. Same batch of wood. Uxcell: I did buy 2 Uxcell bits here on amazon, Uxcell 1/2-Inch Shank 1-1/8-Inch Cutting Dia Double Flute Carbide Tipped and the 2", and they do work, however, I'm working with softwood right now, and they just do not play well with it for making a cabinet, you get tear out. So it really depends on what your doing it for, I would recommend uxcell bits for doing any wood, where you might hit hidden nails etc... I'm not sure how well they would do on hard wood, but with a slow feed rate, I'm sure they are fine. the dust produced from my limited experience was a courser grit, no fine silt, which can be a plus. Whiteside: This bit leaves such a nice finish on the cedar, no tear-out, just a nice finish. This bit does produce a much finer silt than the uxcell bit. Fine enough I had to vaccum under the router plate after each pass when moving the router in the sled, or it would build up just enough to throw off the axis, this was never a problem with the uxcell bit. Its not a con, just an indicator of the higher quality cut your getting. I'll attach pics, first 2 are the white side bit, the last one the uxcell bit, all of this is done on cedar. Bottom line, if your looking for high quality cutting, ie.. making cabinets etc, get the whiteside bit. Just want to rough flatten boards, the uxcell will work fine. Updated- 28 apr 2019 : , I had a chance to use the Uxcell Bit on some fir Wood. I have to say, it performed impressively side by side with the white side bit. Honestly, I think I prefer the uxcell bit, for this type of work. I was simply flattening some home depo 2x8x10 boards with them. The whiteside bit is basically brand new, and after doing one side of the 2x8 , started to burn the board on the other side. yeah needed to be cleaned, I used a few stones with about 5 short stroke passes per cutting edge on each stone, 400, 1000, 3000, 8000. While I was at it, I went ahead and cleaned up the uxcell bit the same way, NOTE very few short stroke passes, not a real sharpening what so ever, just a little clean up on it. The updated pics are a side by side comparision of the first pass on the first side with the white side bit, and then half way done trying the uxcel bit. The whiteside bit is every so slightly smoother, but honestly, not really much difference. For the price of the uxcell bit vs whiteside, for most general slab flattening, I'd go with the uxcell, you can get 4 for the price of one whiteside. * Note the uxcell bit has flattened approximately 15 ish cedar boards that are 8ft by 5.75 Inches. Most have had about 1/8" of cupping taken down. Its still preforming very well and still very sharp. *Note the pics I just added, where I took a deeper than normal passes, with a feed rate of @ 1/2" per true second, basically say "One One thousand" using the 14 amp digital router from sears (which I Do NOT endorse, Bearing issues with these, depending on the production run you get one from). Bottom line, for most work you would use these for, these are just awesome. The whiteside is still a smoother finish, but unless your doing some kitchen cabinets, or other surface that really needs a pristine finish, use the uxcell, the value cannot be beat. ... show more

  • Durable, well-crafted bit.
Size: 1/2" x 2"
Bought to use with my router and homemade sled on various hardwood slabs. Purchased with the expectation that it would not last long, and thus be a great trial bit before I moved on to a more expensive bit. Right out of the box the tips were in better shape than more expensive bits i've purchased. Added bonus, shank length perfect for router sled: at 2in diameter, bit is probably too big for most default bases on routers, the added plus of this bit is that the shank has enough length to drop safely below the base and sit securely in my router's collet. Fast forward and it has dulled little, still perfectly balanced, and has outlived more expensive bits. No burn marks on any of my slabs either. Follow the obvious tips for best results: don't take too much wood in a single pass; go with the grain; set appropriate speed (as provided on the package), etc. ... show more

  • Don't knock it till you try it....
Size: 1/2" x 2"
Worked great for planing mesquite. Seemed well balanced. It did leave the lines, but a quick sanding with some 80 grit will clean that up. The edge didn't seem super sharp but I had zero troubles shaving off even up to 1/8" passes (accidentally). My guess is that the people who bent the shaft either had the bit too far out or tried to make too deep of passes. Try and set it for 1/16" or less passes and make sure 3/4" of the shaft is in the collet. Don't use extenders that's just asking for trouble. Instead shim your piece closer to the sled. All in all it is a great bit for the hobbyist, but I'll only give it 4 stars since I know there are way better bits out there. ... show more

  • this is a winner's choice!
Size: 1/2" x 2"
like a knife through butter. using it on my Redwood Cedar epoxy river table. tested it out last night and i had to slow down because it was cutting too easily. attached is my "test" piece. the lines between where the bit went. i intentionally didn't make it "perfect" so i could check for wobbling or imperfections before using it on my actual project. it holds true, and finishes with the consistency of 120-150 grit sanding. worth the money, i SURELY didn't want to use my belt sander for 3/16 IN of 30 BDFT... took me 2-3 min to run across 3 BDFT on this test piece! ... show more

  • Great Product at Great Price!
Size: 1/2" x 2"
Great product for a bargain price! I plane a lot of live edge slabs - most of which are milled from trees in residential areas, which means your bound to occasionally encounter an embedded nail, fencing, or some other metal object. When purchasing bits for $50 + each - one table can become an incredibly expensive endeavor, so having access to a quality bit at a budget price is a necessity. If you have been in a similar situation...look no further, great bit here. *Side note: When planing slabs, I have noticed the life (and sharpness) of these bits is greatly extending by taking passes at half the width of bit total span. This is easy as you just line the router up on center with each pass. ... show more

  • Great surface leveling bit
Size: 1/2" x 2"
The ease of leveling wood has gotten even easier. The wider blade base cuts leveling time and the durability of the blades will allow us to use this for a long time. Just spray with some WD40 when you get it!😉

  • Great surfacing bit. It leaves a nice smooth finish
Size: 1/4" x 3/4"
I thought that my little 3018 might have trouble running this bit. I was sure wrong! This is the smoothest running bit I have. It cuts so nice and smooth. I am impressed with how well balanced it is, there's no vibrating my machine to pieces like some of my smaller bits do. Needless to say, I'll be buying more bits from this company. ... show more

  • Great for Planing Slabs!
Size: 1/2" x 2"
Used this to level 2 large cherry slabs to be made into live edge tables. Built a planing box & sled for my Bosch plunge router and used this bit with a collet extension at 16k rpm. Smooth operation pass after pass with minimal witness lining or vibration. Bit stayed sharp as a razor throughout the job. For the price, this is a great buy! P.S. Collet extensions get a bad rap from some folks. Be sure to 1) seat and tighten the bit in the extension properly, 2) seat and tighten the extension in the router collet properly, and 3) pause every 15-20 minutes of run time to check tightness of both the router collet and the extension and you should have no problems. ... show more
