  • Easy to Plug and Play, Decent Vocal quality
This is a very functional USB computer microphone with 6ft USB cable; easy installation and decent vocal quality. - One Amazon brand product. I can find it from Amazon's our brand product. - Plug and Play. It's useful for on&off switch and mute buttons with LED Indicator. 360°Flexible Goosenecks Design is good. It allows you to adjust the usb microphone to your level. - The desktop base which is a decent gaming microphone with heavy-duty housing ensures firm support for long goosenecks. The devices base is sturdy and solid enough to keep the unit firmly on your work desk. - Good value for the money, Just under $20, - Good for Zoom, video conference, skype, or recording audio from your desktop. - My daughter like the red anti-wind foam cap. All in all, Perrycom MSD6 has a good price and works great!! Whether you are just starting out, needed a replacement mic for a while, or heck, just want a quality product without breaking the bank, this thing is one of the best bangs for your buck out there! • Perfect, EASY TO USE
Perfect. The price is excellent, suitable for games and meetings. The most important thing is that it is easy to use, just plug it in to computer USB port.

  • Very basic microphone with less than optimal quality for calls
Perrycom Desktop Microphone with Mute Button is made in China and is a basic plug and play device. The USB cord is 67” long. I tested this on both a Microsoft Windows 10 laptop as well as a Chrome Box. It works on both but the quality is definitely lacking for calls. Depending on specific use, it may be useful for basic recording. It works with a variety of apps and can be changed to the default microphone in settings. This does have an LED light to indicate that it is on as well as a mute button. However, I can not recommend it for any type of phone or video call. I tried it with several online calls with different apps and kept being told that I was coming across as very muffled and hard to understand, no matter how I adjusted the settings. I don’t have that problem with the built in microphones or the ones in USB webcams. This microphone doesn’t record any better than the built in one on my laptop and all-in-one pc. It isn’t any more effective than the microphone attached to my video camera for my chromebox. Perrycom Desktop Microphone works better for straight audio input and recording than it does for external communication. ... show more

  • When You Need Better than "Good Enough" Voice Recording, on a budget
I get it. A Zoom/Teams/Webex/Skype meeting sets the bar for audio quality pretty low. For that purpose, you don't need much -- though at times you may have trouble guessing who is speaking. Can you use a built-in mic on a USB web cam? The laptop built-in? Sure. In fact, that will work fine for most occasions. It's for when you want a higher (not necessarily "highest," we're talking budget mics here -- not one good enough to make a home recording of "Wozzeck" that you can send to Sony Classical for mastering) vocal quality. Cardioid condenser mics are best for giving you the area's directional pickup, loosely filtering out some of the sounds further away from the mic. It's mildly helpful, but won't fully filter out a jackhammer working outside your window or a crying child in the next room. But it does help. Also, the voice quality is better because of the condenser technology. See more on Wikipedia. So add this item to your shopping list if your budget is modest but you need to step up the voice quality, such as for a podcast. TIP -- Don't use a USB hub unless is fully powered. If the mic doesn't work, check without the hub. -- Avoid USB extension cables -- Use powered USB ... show more

  • Sounds good in a year of virtual communication
For its price point and tier, this is a very good microphone. My middle schooler's headset mic was never strong, and then it became erratic, making communication in virtual school a problem. My tech-savvy husband recommended getting a standalone microphone rather than a new pair of earbuds, especially since this is her third pair this year, and none of the mics on them has been great. This MSD6 computer desktop by Perrycom was available through Vine Voice, so we thought it was worth trying. What a game changer!!! Immediately, teachers and classmates said they could hear my daughter loud and clear--but not too loudly or clearly, thank goodness. She has classmates who wear headsets designed for gaming, and the whole class is treated to their Darth Vader-like breathing noises when they forget to mute. Daughter uses the mic with its optional red foam "windscreen" with noise cancellation on her computer or whichever application she's using, such as Discord. If you don't have noise cancellation, you may want to use it without the foam buffer, as the foam can create a bit of its own noise. That may be why one reviewer felt it was a tad quiet. But with noise cancellation on AND the foam, sound is great while background noise is, well, cancelled--a good feature if you have others in your house talking and barking and meowing. Another big plus is that you can mute yourself flipping a button on the mic. Better still, a light turns red when you're muted and green when you unmute. No embarrassing side conversations broadcast to your whole meeting or class! The mic is futher adjustable, both height-wise and distance from the computer, and the stand is sturdy. If this mic is so good, why four stars? We do some home music recording, and this mic is nowhere near the level of the mics we use for singing and music audio. It's sort of unfair to compare them, yet the manufacturer positions it as if it might be good for that, too. Umm, no. And if someone is a serious gamer (ie, trying to get paid on a site like Twitch), they probably want a full headset gaming mic that picks up everything. This is a crisp, middle-of-the-road device that will make virtual meetings and classrooms a whole lot better for both the speaker and the listeners, and for that, I heartily recommend it. ... show more
