This melting furnace is very well made. Heavy stainless steel housing, plenty of ceramic wool, and a heavy-duty burner. Some people have complained about the "designed in the USA" statement, because the box says it is made in China. I don't care where it's made, as long as it's made well. Yes, China makes a lot of junk, but they also made a lot of high-quality stuff. This furnace falls into that category. The crucible that comes in the kit is heavy duty, and huge. It is more of a 12-14kg capacity (the volume is 1,700 milliliters). All-in-all, I highly recommend buying this melting furnace. You won't go wrong. ... show more

    • Easy setup and use
There's not much to the setup and use. From the box I was burning in a matter of minutes. The tongs that come with this kit are not the greatest, I would suggest buying a better set.

So far I’ve done 4 melts and it works flawlessly. First thing I noticed out of the box it’s heavy! Very well made. The tongs could be better for sure but the furnace and crucible are excellent.

Haven’t had a chance to use it just yet because the refractory brick was cracked when it arrived. I reached out and Cast Masters sent a new one right away!     • The only thing I would have done different...

After almost 3 months of reading reviews and watching videos on YouTube, I really wanted to order a Devil Forge. But for some reason, their website wouldn't load. I decided I would look at some of the other options out there, because I was tired of just watching other people enjoying the hobby... Shipping? I did not opt to pay for quicker delivery, and still had my furnace in 4 days. Out of the box? I was surprised how compact (small) the furnace seemed at first glance (I should have read the dimensions a little closer). Everything was packed nicely, and nothing was damaged between the warehouse and my front door. The instructions were simple and clear. The only thing I needed to do was attach the burner to the furnace. First experience smelting? I was not disappointed. There was a little bit of a challenge getting the right balance between how far open to have the propane regulator and the choke. After adjusting it to where I felt it was right, things went pretty well. I spent the next 3 hours not realizing how fast time was passing, and about half of the bags of soda cans are out of my garage. What would I do different? I would order a propane regulator with a gauge on it. Other than that, nothing. Some day, I will order a Devil Forge, but this isn't going to be my only Cast Masters furnace either. ... show more

    • Great product at a great vaule
I looked around for weeks at different options. I wanted a larger capacity crucible so I wouldn't have to deal with having to reheat for larger castings. This product has worked perfectly so far and is what I was looking for. The crucible is large and fits with enough room to get even heating. As a heads up, when finished with your casting, be sure to put the crucible back on top of the fire brick and put the lid back on or you will have an issue with cooling down too rapidly, which can result in a cracked fire brick where the crucible sits. A nice surprise was the updated connection to the base where the propane hose connects. There is a sleeve that runs parallel to the hose and pipe connection and the sleeve slides very easily to allow the desired airflow. This looks to be much more convenient than the previous design. The regulator and hose seem to be high quality and should last with proper care. All components look great for that matter. It was also very easy to setup. I will likely get, or make, a larger set of tongs to handle the crucible. The tongs measure 17" long and are just over 1/4 inch in diameter. The tongs do handle the load, but they apply a lot of pressure to a very small area of the side wall. When dealing with the intensity of a large crucible filled with moltin metal it's likely worth the upgrade. With that said, be sure to wear the proper safety equipment. This is a process you don't want to take lightly. You can burn through clothing and shoes in seconds and you need to be prepared with all the necessary safety precautions. Goldmembers accidental smelting accident makes a lot of sense after the first run. There's a moment when pouring the metal where you will likely process all kinds of possibilities. Do your homework. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase. If you are on the fence, go for it. ... show more

    • Very hot and melts metal quickly
After using this furnace, I am very happy with its performance. I started melting metals with a small electric furnace and now I decided to move to propane to try to increase the volume I can melt. Now I can easily melt 3-4 times as much as I used to. This furnace can get very hot which allows you to melt a wide range of metals. With a temperature gun, I was getting temperatures over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Overall, I am very pleased with this product and it performs better than expected. ... show more
