I REALLY like this cane a lot. It is a strong, thick, solid oaken shaft with some heft to it. I wasn’t crazy about the price, but the more I looked into it, the more I came to realize that it is a very fair price point. These canes are handmade in Ukraine and the craftsmanship, skill and care is evident when you see it — and especially when you use it. I just had a total knee replacement, and unlike the previous cane I purchased through Amazon (and returned due to poor construction quality), this one states how much of a load it can bear (and its solid construction is unyielding), so I feel confident now that I’ve transitioned from a walker to a cane that this is a safe product to support a person’s weight and stability. I absolutely LOVE the dragon head on this cane as well. It has a crafty, toothy grin, is very artistically designed and really feels solid and strong. I believe that the horns on the dragon are pretty solid as well and won’t easily break. The cane requires some assembly when it arrives, but the instructions are great and everything went together smoothly, the way a well-designed product should. The manufacturer also provides you with good and accurate instructions on the proper way to use a cane if, like me, you’ve never had to use one before. I had read in some of the reviews that the horns on the dragon head dug into the hands of some of the users. This has not been a problem for me, if the cane is used properly with the index finger on the side of the shaft pointing down the shaft, this shouldn’t be a problem for anyone, at least in my opinion. My only gripe is that Amazon does not let you know that you can customize your cane to get the right length for your height, get a different-colored stain on the cane, get a golden-hued dragon head, and even select other very impressive options for the face of your cane instead of a dragon head. Unfortunately, it does cost a little more and the delivery is about 4 plus weeks, but I feel that it is well worth it. As a result I ordered a second cane a little shorter than this one for my height, a lighter stain for the oak shaft and handle that highlights the grain better than the dark walnut stain and a golden-hued dragon, which in my opinion goes better with the dark yellow/caramel color of the stain. To custom order the cane you have to go to the link for the Asterom store. I am sure that you will find something that piques your interest and will be a great buy!

Just got this from Amazon a few days back...have been practicing in preparation for an upcoming knee replacement. Let me say at the outset that a $15 Wal-Mart cane would have fit the bill...if all you want is a stick to keep you from toppling over. I, however, wanted a bit more, so I opted for the Asterom Cane, Dire Wolf model. I am not disappointed: it looks every bit as good as the pictures on the Amazon screen. I sent a picture to my sister in Las Vegas: her reaction was that it is an "uptown" cane. It is every bit of that. I thought about getting a Clumber Spaniel and a bowler hat to complete the look, but...well. It's pricey for sure, but on the other hand a cane is not something that is replaced very often. Okayyy...so much for looks. Now for performance. This thing is built solid. It is in four parts (the shaft, a decorative ring where the head screws into the shaft, the head, and the non-slip tip). The shaft is advertised as "Carpathian Oak" which impressed the hell out of my brother. Straight as an arrow. Approximately a 1" diameter at the top, tapering to maybe a hair under 3/4" diameter at the tip. It looks as if it means business. Should mention as well that the head, which screws into the top of the cane, has a 1 3/4" threaded shank and screws solidly down onto the cane shaft. The head is attractively made out of the same wood as the shaft and finished equally well. The "Dire Wolf" part of the head, which might be considered garish, is instead tastefully done and not gaudy. A bit understated actually. It is the same metal and finish as the decorative ring. The tip is non-slip heavy-duty rubber and fits snugly over the shaft tip. It looks made to last. Also, Asterom includes two other tips with the cane, so you're set for the long haul. No concerns yet, and I doubt I will have any. One comment as to the construction of the handle: for a man, a full four-finger grip is impossible; your pinky finger doesn't fit fully on the handle. For me I've found that the best grip is to position my index finger along the shaft with my other three fingers gripping the handle. It is secure and seems to actually be a better grip than a full four-finger grip on the handle would be. Bottom Line: I'm fully satisfied. So far. And I doubt that will change.

I'm 5'10, weight 175 lb, male. I tore all kinds of stuff in my knee in a soccer game, and needed a cane to help me get around because a crutch would make me feel too broken, and I don't like that, so I got a cane. Let me say, I have a career in tech, a wife, all that, so by all accounts a normal guy, at 27 years old. But I'm an artist so I have a flair for the extra. Why am I listing these details? Because, the main reason you buy this cane is because you like style, so I'm telling you where I come from style wise. The cane will cause one of three reactions in people: they will laugh, they will think you are weird, or they will absolutely love it. In all cases it will be a conversation. However, that is not to say it is too ostentatious; the metal is darker colored, and the falcon head is really tastefully done and not too large. It's obviously a high quality item, so it gets full class marks. This cane endured me treating it like crap, and putting basically my whole weight on it for a long time while my injury healed until I needed it less and less. It survived the airport, and for some reason was allowed through, if you can believe that. However, I will say, that's because I followed the directions and held it correctly. I had no issue with its length, "if it was shorter it would look weird," or so my wife said. I really can't fault it. It was as comfortable as placing your full weight on a tiny area of your hand can be, and did well for the several months I had to rely on it as an extra appendage. A really classy conversation starter that makes you feel a bit better about your leg not working is worth a full 5 stars in my opinion. It's not indestructible, obviously, since it is made of stained wood. Treat it like a classy item and don't drop it on rough concrete like I did and it will hold up to any other daily abuse. There's shockingly few dings from my careening around two states and an airport with it, though, I must say, and the darker color and wood pattern hides most of them. So again, if you want full utility, get a crutch. if you want a classy item that can endure a young man my sized galivanting around with it for a few months and really using it to hold your weight and trade a point in comfort for those bonuses, get this cane.

My young brother recently had a medical complication that left him without feeling on the left side. He can walk but can’t feel the ground so he needed a cane for assistance. They purchased a drug store cane which was he found was heavy and as he called it “an old mans cane”. Its bad enough to have this sudden change in life but to have an unsightly cane just makes it more difficult. We found your product and read the reviews, and we knew we found what we needed to make him not only comfortable but also stylish. We had it shipped as a surprise and very please! He is a wood crafter of fine violins so to have him to love the craftsmanship said alot! He is a 6’6” man who is of sturdy stature. This cane was light enough to be comfortable and maneuverable with the strength and durability to support him putting his weight on it to feel the ground.
