If you hike in the winter these are essential. You may hike most of the way up the mountain and then encounter ice on the exposed rocks. These will give you traction to ensure that you don't slip. The velcro strap ensures that they don't slip on your boots. I included a picture of me wearing them on a hike this past weekend. They easily fit on my size 11 boots and come on and off easily. These could also be useful for clearing your driveway or just walking out to your car or the mailbox if your driveway is icy. Nice that they have a carry / storage bag. I wish the bag had a loop that i could carabiner to my pack and have them easily accessible when taking them on and off depending on trail conditions. ... show more

    • Sick of falling in ice? These work well

I use these every day in the woods when I walk my dog. They are essential to avoid injury. The recommended size fit my shoe well, and were easy to fit tightly. I dedicated a specific pair of shoes, and never remove the cleats. The cleats are very sharp and should never be worn inside. The cleats are held in place by a network of chains, which are subject to wear as you walk. So far in 2 months, I have broken 2 links, which makes the cleats unusable until repaired -- which is fortunately simple. You can use a piece of stiff wire (I used landscape staples like these https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Hawk-4-Inch-Landscape-75-Count/dp/B01L9RK04S/ref=sr_1_20?crid=1H5BTVD6AC5BO&keywords=landscape+staples&qid=1583201244&sprefix=landscape%2Caps%2C198&sr=8-20) -- and twist it together with needle-nosed pliers, and snap off the excess. I wish the chains didn't break, but they are easily repaired. I am extremely happy with these. Despite minor shortcomings, they are so cheap, I bought them for the whole family -- and nobody has fallen all winter which is wonderful. ... show more

    • My hiking buddies was impressed
Well, you would think that something like this would not be durable or last long, but my hiking buddies who spend over $60.00 for their spikes is now looking at purchasing these. We go through touch terrain, wet wooded areas with lots of roots here in the lovely Hawaii mountains so we need something versatile. This surely is. The only thing I noticed is that I got the medium, my hiking shoes is a size 8 but the left side spikes kept shifting and I had to pull it back. Overall, I should purchase 3 more of these to last me the next 20 years of hiking. My friends will be purchasing these also from Amazon. ... show more

I can't provide any long-term durability feedback as I've only used these spikes twice. However, no problems so far. Being between sizes, I decided to size up and that seems to have worked well. The fit is solid, though not particularly tight. The spikes seem strong and barring corrosion (only noticeable in a long-term review) should last. The rubber is adequately thick and comfortable and fits well over my shoes (Salomon XA Pro 3D). So far, one of the best value products I've purchased in a very long time. My only issue is that if you're walking on mixed ice/clear terrain sticks and rocks can get stuck in the chains and cleats. While mildly annoying at times, that's just an inherent consequence of the product design and not the fault of the manufacturer.     • These really worked on slick ice in grand canyon.

I ordered 5 pairs. Different sizes Biggest shoe size was a 14 us men that were used over snow boots. Easy to put on even for this shoe size. The velcro band that went over to make cleats more sturdy were used on family members who wore regular tennies with shoe size 5 us women. The cleats dig into snow and make every step firm while walking on stairs covered in snow or down small grades leading to rails in the grand canyon. It even worked on the black ice. Other people were sliding who had no cleats while we walked on by no problem. Comes with nice case i definitely recommend. I would even by these for gifts. We got asked so many times where we got the cleats. I read reviews on other brands there were a couple of negative reviews about these. I'm so glad i went with the positive reviews made the trip safer and more enjoyable. They also blend with the shoes we ordered black and grey to not get mixed up with who's is who for the same shoe size. They make a snow crunching noise when walking we didn't mind at all we were on our feet enjoying views and not on our bottoms. A couple of people got taken away by ambulance because of slipping. READ HERE FOR SIZE! I ordered XL's and they fit snug on my size 12 thick waterproof muck boots. I think if you have size 13 or 14 muck boots, you might have trouble getting them to fit. **BUT** they should fit your typical 13 or 14 boot or hiking boot. I love the case that came with it. Work great! Hiked 7 miles in them today with mild elevation and some rocky areas. Did great on hard packed snow and ice. Felt very steady. My first time putting them on in the snow with frozen fingers was a bit tricky, but now I've got it figured out! Can't beat the price, and hopefully they are durable. I bought these for ice fishing. They really help you grip into the ice. These are definitely needed when there is no snow on the ice. They also come with a nice case to store them when not in use. 100% happy with my purchase and would recommend!
