I never knew I needed these. Used them for the first time a few days ago after an over night storm. Was able to walk the dog much further than normal after a storm. Ice, snow no problem. Also not a problem walking on pavement in between. Mental freedom to be able to walk with confidence and thoroughly enjoy the walk - worth the price. I grew up in the Chicago area and wish I thought to get these decades ago. Have only used once - we have several storms on the way and will use these several times, especially on the ice rink otherwise known as the driveway. Trip to Bryce Canyon National Park in early March. I’ve winter hiked before and never used traction devices. But it was suggested for the hike, so I got them. I was very happy with that decision. They were fantastic. Gave me confidence to hike slippery icy snowy trails near steep hills and drop offs. Easy to take on and off. The spikes are inconvenient on rocks and concrete, so plan a way to carry (carabiner) on trails with a lot of each. I only used these for about 12 miles total hiking, so I can’t speak to how long they’ll last. Note that my hiking partner had the yaktrax … no spikes just chains … and was also happy. ... show more

Much cheaper than the better known brands, this actually fits my size 10 trail runners better than another much better known brand in which my shoe size was in between spike sizes, resulting in buying the larger size that ended in the back half of the spike set riding up the back of the shoe heel during vigorous snow hiking. I only used this off brand once in snow and it worked well, but I cannot attest to long term usage. It also comes with an extra strap to tighten it on the shoe - it is 'hidden' at the bottom of the package, so look for it as it doesn't come preattached to the main product. ... show more

Ordered these for a snow hiking trip with our high adventure troop. Many recommended the known brands, but I didn’t want to spend that much money, since I had to buy two. They were sturdy and easy to mount. The grip they provided was excellent. Even on icy surface the spikes penetrated the surface and granted a save grip. My son liked them as well. The spot where the spikes are located didn’t push too much into the sole, May causing blisters. If the ground is not snowy or icy you should take them off. Easy done by pulling the leash. I like the bag it comes with. Easy to store and has a field to write your name on it. Note: to penetrate an icy surface you either are naturally heavy 😜 or need to stomp a little into the ground - tip for teens. ... show more

Definitely go a size up from what's recommended on the size chart. The xl fits snug on my size 10.5 hiking boots. So far they've held up this season with very little of any signs of wear. Easy and quick to put on. I've never had to adjust them once they're on. They stay in place pretty well. The difference these make on an icy hike is pretty incredible and worth several times the price even if they only pay one season, although I suspect they'll last a good bit longer. ... show more

I bought a pair (Large) of these for my size 8.5 walking shoes, a pair (XL) for my husband’s size 11 walking shoes. Mine fit perfectly; his were a little snug but worked. I tried them out hiking with friends in the Tahoe wilderness. Three of my group wore snow shoes and I wore the Uelfbaby crampons. It was mostly hard pack snow and I was very comfortable with the feel and performance. They were easy to get on and off and now, my friends are getting them too !!!
