I bought this for my Yaesu 991A I have tried other speakers and this one is the best sounding and perfect volume. The yaesu 991A has an external speaker jack on the back and that jack is Mono the Bearcat speaker has a stereo jack on it so I used a stereo to mono jack to adapt the two together. I have this paired with an SDS200. The audio is clearer than the stock speaker on the SDS200, but boy let me tell you this thing is quiet. I have the SDS200 cranked up to volume 30, but it is still the equivalent of about volume 12 from the stock speaker. So in short, you get clearer audio, but it is quiet. Update: I changed my reviews to 5 stars. My mistake was using the front headphone jack on the SDS200. When I plugged this into the external speaker jack on the back of the SDS200, it is much louder. ... show more

You need special instructions for certain applications and you will not get them. The audio will be too low if you don't know what you are doing and the seller won't help you. I thought this wasn't working with the SDS200 using the front headphone jack. Nobody told me to plug it into the rear speaker jack. That is an isolated ground configuration with this speaker and will not hurt the SDS200. Just remember that isolated ground is crucial and also, never insert a mono plug into the rear jack. The BC20 has a stereo plug for a reason even though it is a mono speaker. Only the rear speaker jack will work with the BC20 on the SDS200 because it is not volume-limited to protect hearing. I originally complained that this speaker did not work with the SDS200 but in my defense, there was no guidance included with the speaker. ... show more

Does not work as advertised on Amazon: Had to remove factory audio plug (stereo-left channel connected only) and I replaced it with a mono audio plug. Sound works now but it did not amplify audio signal. ## Good quality & construction on speaker, but not what I wanted.
