  • Wow! Couldn’t Put This True Crime Book Down!
This is an amazing story and I can’t believe the ending. Looking forward to the Hulu series. Will be reading the author’s other book next.

  • This Is True
Rebecca Godfrey's fiction book, "The Torn Skirt," included references in the author interview to this non-fiction book, "Under the Bridge." I realized that I had seen the 20/20 show about this murder and was interested in getting more information. The story is a true story of school kids in Victoria, BC. These are the punk rockers, the wild-child types, whose family histories are a mess of drugs and foster homes and alcoholic parents. Godfrey's focus is on the victim, Reena Virk, a lonely girl with few friends. Reena makes the mistake of saying okay to an invitation to a party. The party is set up to kick some sense into her. The party goes way beyond that. Reena is killed. The whole story is very sad, but compelling reading. The trials, probations, and aftermath for the perpetrators is covered in details. ... show more

  • Mind Blowing
Recommended for everyone! Crazy to be a young teenager with so much hatred in you. So much loss for all involved. So sad that Warren didn't have the family values that we all need and yet he was the one that turned his life around so positively!

  • Boring beginning!
The book overall is a good read. But the beginning of the book is boring and doesn't seem to matter.

  • Compelling
Well-written account of a disturbing trend of violence toward those who don’t fit in among teens

  • Interesting and Sad story
I did enjoy the book. The story is pretty unreal/unbelievable. Sadly, the author passed away in Fall 2022. It was just an awful situation and sad.

  • Printers messed up
Not necessarily the seller's fault.* The book's printers, Gallery Books, attached the front and back covers for Rebecca Godfrey's Under the Bridge to a historical fiction novel/memoir titled "Ruth's Journey" by Donald Craig. **Caution if buying this same edition/version.

  • Violent Turns
I remember feeling lucky for some of what I escaped when I was young. Even quick brushes with violence let me know how much worse it could be if I got any closer. Some of the kids whose stories are shared here shared my fortune, but others did not. It's a sad story...
