Like many of the other reviews state, these shorts do run large. When I first laid eyes on them I thought for sure they were going to be too big but the fit was perfect. I purchased a size large and I normally wear a size 12 pants. The waist has a drawstring which allowed me to swim in these without fear that the shorts would somehow slip off. One of the great things about these shorts is that the drawstring is actually on the inside of the waistband. I definitely prefer this over a visible drawstring. The inside has a mesh lining which was great because I used these to swim. I normally HATE wearing a bathing suit but my two young kids were getting swim lessons and I had a feeling I'd have to get in the pool with them. These shorts allowed me to stay a bit more covered up than a regular bathing suit would have. (I paired them with a loose fitting tankini top and it was very cute.) They are extremely lightweight and breathable. I didn't have to wring out any water when I stepped out of the pool because they didn't absorb much at all. I purchased a black pair and had no issues with them being see through. If you're planning on using these to swim I would not recommend purchasing a light color since the fabric is so thin and lightweight. I swam in these three days straight and each night hung them over my shower curtain rod to dry. Drying time was super fast... even faster when I pointed a fan on them. The overall quality of these shorts is fantastic, which is what I've come to expect from Under Armour. The material is comfy and airy. I'm not an athlete but I could certainly see these being used as running or soccer shorts. I washed these in warm water and dried with all my other clothes at a regular temperature. They came out looking just as good as they did going in. No shrinkage at all. Most definitely worth the price. Highly recommend. ... show more

I loved the light fabric of these and the fact there is a liner on the inside for extra coverage. I have been looking for something I can exercise in the southern summer heat with and also not have to worry about exposing myself while I'm in various positions and these shorts tick the boxes. The Play Up 3.0 were just too baggy around the thigh area. I am 5' 6", 130 lbs. I have wide hips and regular size thighs. The small and medium both fit really well, but the medium are just more comfortable. The waist for the small gives a slight muffin top, but the thigh area fits perfectly. The waist for the medium fits perfect with a slight give in the thigh area so overall I'd recommend the medium for my size. The material is really thin as in enough to even see the liner that's attached to them which is white. I've also ordered a white pair and they were even worse see-through wise. For both pairs, my underwear has the potential to show through as well, but with nude colored underwear I can make it work. ... show more

I needed something to wear at camp after a day of backpacking- requirements were that the items was to be light and packable, yet stylish. These shorts fit the bill, very comfortable to wear and super light. Beware, though: Item is not true to size. I usually wear a size 6, Amazon recommended a large. Skeptical of that recommendation, I ended up buying both large and medium, but have to return the medium because it is too tight. The large is too large, but thanks to the drawcord, it works. Also be aware that while the colors are fun, the lighter colors let the built-in-brief shine through. ... show more

They are comfortable but they do run a little small, I sized up for a more comfortable feel and they aren’t the size I hoped for. Keeping them to have shorts around the house but won’t be wearing them in public. They were a great price, as they were on sale at the time I purchased them so I took a chance.
