Very nice little lunch box. I bought the 64oz version which holds a sandwich and piece of fruit up top and a nice size side salad and dressing containers below. The 64oz appears to be the only one that has a real bamboo top cover which makes a nice little tray to spread food out on and use as a plate. This model fits snugly in the bag they make which is sold separately. The only thing less than 5 stars is the utensils. They aren’t horrible, just wish they were a little better. Slippery plastic chopsticks and a fork with round prongs. A needlessly short cutting edge knife and a thick edge spoon. I doubt any other product includes anything better. So don’t let this stop you from buying. Just know that you can’t simply replace them with regular utensils because the space for them is small.

I've been fascinated by bento videos for a while and wanted to try making bento for myself. And while I thought about getting a more traditional wood bento box the price was a little steep to make a commitment. The Umami bento box is so neat, and for the price is such a great little bento set to start with. It holds a surprising amount of food -- in the photos above, the bottom tier has 6 oz. teriyaki grilled salmon atop 1 cup of white rice in one section, and 1/2 cup of edamame and half an avocado and a cherry tomato in the other section. Then the top tier is cold snacks -- half an apple, one carrot cut into sticks, a mandarin orange, and the 2 included sauce containers, one for salad dressing, one with Nutella for the apple slices. So, that's my lunch plus both of my snack breaks fitting easily into this compact bento box! What's really great is that instead of packing each snack into a separate, disposable plastic bag, I just put them into the bento box with a divider between them. This box will also fit a silicone muffin cup perfectly, which is useful for items you don't want to mix with other stuff (like kimchi, or cucumber salad). Clean-up is very fast -- the boxes and lids (except for the bamboo top) go right into the top rack of the dishwasher. The only thing I don't like about this kit is the chopsticks that are included in the utensil set. They're too small to hold comfortably. But that's really a non-issue, I can just add full-size chopsticks to my lunch bag instead. The bamboo fork/knife/spoon work fine and look fancy.

The XL size is very roomy for a long shift. I got breakfast and lunch in there, or lunch and snacks. The pictured meal was not for an 12 hour shift, but there’s enough room to pack food for one! Everyone compliments me on the bentos I pack when they see them and it’s good for a variety of foods from sandwiches to stir fries. It’s easy to clean and store. My one tiny complaint is when picking up the entire thing, the only thing holding it together is the strap. The individual containers hold closed well but they don’t snap together or anything so pick it up from the bottom and be sure to stabilize both when carrying it as a tip.

I recently started dialysis and because its a long sit down session they said I can bring healthy snacks. I needed something i could maneuver easily with one arm and also control portion size. These bento boxes fit the task perfectly. They allow me to transport my fruit and eggs securely, but aren't impossible to open. So far so good. I bought 2 with the fun limited edition design lids. Hopefully I can get all the sets so I can properly meal prep going forward. Lets see if they last!

Haven't tried it in the dishwasher yet, but the bamboo slat is removable and everything else can be washed! It arrived in great condition, with info and instructions, and it just what I wanted! I somehow missed that the compartment dividers are MOBILE, so you can adjust the relative sizes of the compartments in each layer! Even the sauce containers are sleek, pretty, and washable. I got the bamboo lid because I just found it too beautiful to pass up, even for the sake of convenience (because then, with a non-wood top lid, it would have been 100% dishwasher safe! But alas, my fondness for art has stopped that!) Thankfully, I now see that the lid slips out super easily, and the rest can be washed, with the lid gently wiped and set aside. I may also try "sealing" it with cutting board protector to protect it better. The silverware is super useful, and I love, love, LOVE that it has fork/knife/spoon AND chopsticks in the set--the fabric holder to keep them tidy and in order was a delightful surprise when I opened it, too. So simple, but so useful! The leak-proof seals were nice and even seemed air-tight. The little wings to make corners for lifting were really useful for that. It is just so pretty AND so well made! I really like it and I'm really pleased with this purchase. Definitely as described or better!

Buying lunch everyday was getting incredibly expensive and I prefer to bring a lunch as a way to control ingredients. Decided to pick up a Bento box and, after more research and watching of videos than I think anyone should ever do just for a lunchbox, I went with this one form Umami. And I am really happy I did. It meets my basic requirements of being microwave and dishwasher safe so it can go from fridge to microwave and then to dishwasher. I wanted something that came with a sauce container for salad dressing and moveable dividers. It's leakproof (another important feature since I often ride my bike to work and and keep this box in my backpack) and odor-proof. having the two separate containers is important as it allows me to have food to be reheated in one and cold food in the other. Probably need to buy another one so I can always pack a lunch the night before while the other one is in the dishwasher. But I'll happily spend the money on the second one - totally worth it
