I've been using these for more than a year, basically every day. Putting the containers (not the lids) in the microwave as well as in the dishwasher, without major impact. Microwaving greasy food melted small ridges in the containers tho, but I wasn't expecting otherwise. They don't leak immediately, but definitely, they're not made to carry liquid, like soup, even yogurt gets a bit leaked, but they keep everything in place for creamy dishes, so I'm fine. The containers are sturdy enough for me.

I've been fascinated by bento videos for a while and wanted to try making bento for myself. And while I thought about getting a more traditional wood bento box the price was a little steep to make a commitment. The Umami bento box is so neat, and for the price is such a great little bento set to start with. It holds a surprising amount of food -- in the photos above, the bottom tier has 6 oz. teriyaki grilled salmon atop 1 cup of white rice in one section, and 1/2 cup of edamame and half an avocado and a cherry tomato in the other section. Then the top tier is cold snacks -- half an apple, one carrot cut into sticks, a mandarin orange, and the 2 included sauce containers, one for salad dressing, one with Nutella for the apple slices. So, that's my lunch plus both of my snack breaks fitting easily into this compact bento box! What's really great is that instead of packing each snack into a separate, disposable plastic bag, I just put them into the bento box with a divider between them. This box will also fit a silicone muffin cup perfectly, which is useful for items you don't want to mix with other stuff (like kimchi, or cucumber salad). Clean-up is very fast -- the boxes and lids (except for the bamboo top) go right into the top rack of the dishwasher. The only thing I don't like about this kit is the chopsticks that are included in the utensil set. They're too small to hold comfortably. But that's really a non-issue, I can just add full-size chopsticks to my lunch bag instead. The bamboo fork/knife/spoon work fine and look fancy.

I like the size, it's enough for lunch. There are two compartments and it comes with a removable divider for both, plus two small containers for dressings or seasoning. The top hold 4 bamboo utensils including chopsticks that fit perfectly. I don't like it as it is held together with an elastic band and the utensils also have a band, i is a bit annoying and awkward having to get it on and off.

I am very happy with my purchase of two Umami bento boxes for my husband and me. At first I was a little doubtful of the small size of the boxes. But later I discovered that they actually hold a lot of food-a dinner plate's worth. If I am too generous when filling his boxes, my husband is unable to finish all of his lunch! These bento boxes are well-made and attractive. I love the bamboo cover and the wooden eating utensils included.

I just started going back in to the office on a regular basis, so I started looking for a good lunch box to bring in. I'm a fan of bentos for their portion control and for forcing me to be more mindful of what I'm packing for lunch. These boxes are perfect for that. They have two layers, a divider, and little cups for sauce/nuts/etc. This means I can pack almost anything as long as I am careful about portions as I can microwave one later and leave the other chilled. They are also very secure. You can actually hear the lid seal in place as you close it! I've packed super saucy noodle dishes and it's had absolutely no leakage. The only reason for the 4 stars is that it almost seals too well. I have to give it a good little pull or pry the edge up with my nail sometimes, especially if I sealed it when the food was still warm. Not the worst thing, but it does make it a little bit of a hassle at times. Overall it's a great option and the best bento I've used yet (and there have been quite a few). The bamboo top and silverware make a meal from home feel more special in the middle of the work day.
