  • I enjoy all kinds of music and decided i wanted to ...
Format: Kindle
I'm new to Ableton Live 9 and producing on a whole. I enjoy all kinds of music and decided i wanted to get into learning how to produce on my own. After scouring the internet and YouTube for any kind of tutorial that i could find, I found myself frustrated, confused, and almost to the poing of giving up. Then there's Tim! I stumbled across this Kindle Book (Course) while trying to find an Ableton Training online that wasn't over $300 since I have 4 kids and don't have that kind of money. Well I did run into WarpAcademy and thought about going that route, but after the other reviews here and the price difference I thought "Why Not!?" I'm only in the very beginning stages of this book and already I found myself really getting pulled into the training because of how Tim delivers the content. If you stuck like me and you want to learn and grow in your Ableton journey.....then this is the way to go!!!! ... show more

  • Refreshing
Format: Kindle
Jason Timothy has a wealth of information at a literal fraction of the cost of any other Ableton tutorial. The next nearest is Warp Academy; but they tend to skip around a bit. The course pricing is good (especially after shelling out all the bucks for suite 9).

  • Ableton Live neophytes, take a look at this
Format: Kindle
This Kindle Book cannot be judged by its cover. The contents page shows headings, when left clicked on with the mouse, opens a link to a website where the author Jason Timothy has a vast array of video tutorials on how to use Ableton Live 8 & 9. This "book" links to 66 movies which stream live for your perusal. Did you ever try learning to drive a car by reading the car manual !. On opening Ableton Live for the first time , did you try to figure out where to start by reading the built in manual, I found it hard slog. Several books later, on reading about Ableton Live, I was a lot more knowledgable. but my hands- on skills in using Ableton L were still primitive. I needed to see or be shown how the info in the manual & books translated to audio, from ideas stuck in my head. I found a few Youtube videos, these ramped up my skill levels much more quickly. The presenters were so diverse: some accents were hard to follow, some used cool talk so cool I didn't understand what they were saying , some demos were so fast, I couldn't keep up, some were just bits of the manual rehashed on video. So if a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a hundred pictures, These videos narrated by a muso with over 2 decades in the business, is a goldmine of info. The author chooses words , which are not full of cool talk, and superlatives, but homes in on the use of tools, and Ableton L's features:is what I needed when I started. A lesson firstly begins with a quick overview of its function, a demonstration then follows, then a recap not using the previous explanations, this 3 pronged approach , is also supplemented with Jason's, verbal tips, and comments on adjusting other settings related to a tool's use or features is just what a neophyte to Ableton L needs. The purchaser also gets access to other videos from Jason's professional website. I found a good internet ( bandwidth) connection is required to minimize drop outs streaming the Kindle Book contents. ... show more

  • This is set up to be seen on a Kindle ...
Format: Kindle
This is set up to be seen on a Kindle. I have the Kindle app on my iPad. Author notes this is not really designed for a mobile device and he is right. I have viewed countless video lessons but this one craps out after about 6 minutes and then is virtually impossible to read as hangs constantly. Author says should really view on a PC or MAC, so why sell on Kindle? ... show more

  • TFBS
Format: Kindle
This is neither a book or a collection of videos, it is rather, a collection of links to the authors pay-site where if you are an oceanfront property in Arizona kind of shopper, you can pay to watch his videos. Look! Theres a pony!

  • Great tutorials! Excellent price!!
Format: Kindle
I like Mr. Timothy's knowledgeable and clear delivery. Very informative and thorough. With 66 videos this seems pretty exhaustive. And the price cannot be beat! Throw in all the links to other free videos and it can be downright overwhelming (in a very good way). I've only had a chance to make it through about 5 of the beginning videos so far (the reason for only 4 stars) but I am very pleased. I'm a 6 year user of Ableton so am not a newbie but already with the Clip section and Warping section Have earned some things I hadn't known ( which was why I purchased this in the first place - to even further deepen my knowledge of this amazing DAW) . Note: As the author states, it doesn't work well on iPad but streams well on my laptop. I do have a question though - After watching a video, it doesn't seem to let me go back to re-watch once I've exited (which you almost have to do because there's so much information being covered). I keep getting a message that the video isn't available or not found. Am I missing something? ... show more
