Features

  • Wine Purifier - Ullo purifies any white, rose, or red wine by removing only the artificial sulfite preservatives and none of the natural compounds that make every wine unique. This patented Selective Sulfite filter technology is the magic behind Ullo purification and the only sulfite filter that will not alter your wines natural chemistry.
  • Sulfite Free - Enjoy any wine without histamines and sulfites. Ullos sulfite removal for wine also reveals new flavors and aromas that come alive in your glass without the lingering bitterness from sulfites.
  • Wine Aerator - Ullo Wine Purifier is also a wine aerator. Unlike typical wine aerators and wine accessories, Ullo offers you the option to aerate selectively with an 'on/off' aerator switch to infuse oxygen into bold red wines or to protect the balance of delicate white wines.
  • Simple and Convenient The Ullo Wine Purifier works with all Ullo wine filter replacements. Ullo rests on any wine glass and fits perfectly with Ullos decanters and carafe. Ullo easily disassembles, is dishwasher safe, and makes enjoying purified wine a delightful experience
  • Quality and Safety Ullos wine filter is patented and made from Food Grade BPA-free materials and does not add any chemicals or additives to the wine.

  • It works! No headache!
Like all professional women in their upper-40s with a spouse and teenagers, I am a BIG FAN of wine. However, I am not a fan of waking up with a headache and a fuzzy brain. My friends and I saw the Ullo on Facebook around the same time and I decided, in the name of science, to try it out for all of us. The other reviews mentioned lower prices outside Amazon, but we live on a military base in Japan with an overseas military address, and the Ullo website would not ship here. At any rate, it arrived yesterday and turned out to be much larger and heavier than I expected. It's about the size of a baseball, and you'll want to be very careful perching it atop your expensive crystal wine glasses. The packaging is sophisticated and attractive, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I had a little difficulty getting it locked back together after inserting the filter, but by matching the ridges in the filter holder with the ridges on the inside of the black part, it went together easily. I also didn't expect that you're supposed to take a minute or two pouring the wine through the filter. You know how that feels like forever when you're waiting for the microwave to beep? It feels even longer when you're waiting to drink your wine! On the bright side, the necessity of a slow pour kept me from putting away a bottle of wine as quickly as I certainly could, which may lead to somewhat lower consumption than usual. It gave me a minute to think, "Do I really want another glass of wine?" My very first sip tasted a tiny bit weird... I can't explain HOW but this is a wine I drink several times per week and it just tasted a little off, but only on the first sip. Subsequent sips and glasses did not trigger any kind of reaction or awareness to taste. Okay so blah blah blah, I drank a bunch of wine, went to bed, and woke up this morning feeling... (drumroll please)... FINE! I didn't wake up sweaty in the middle of the night and stay awake for 45 minutes, I didn't have a headache in the morning, I didn't feel blurry, and I didn't say "Ugh" when I stood up. This thing really works! Keep in mind that each filter is only good for ONE bottle of wine, and now I'm kind of wishing I bought the white wine carafe to filter the whole thing at once. Replacement filters are a bit spendy, too; if you buy the 10-pack from Amazon you're adding $3.99 to the price of each bottle of wine you consume. Regardless, to enjoy the effects of wine without the consequences is well worth it to me! ... show more

  • Drink red wine again
If you have a problem with drinking red wine, try this. I had headaches and couldn't sleep after drinking red wine. After a friend showed me the little Ullo spoons, I decided to try the whole bottle filter. It works beautifully. Does not affect the taste at all.

  • Works for me!
I love red wine but hate the feeling the next day, headache, rosacea and brain fuzziness. I started using Uiio and noticed a difference the next day. Recently I’ve started “double filtering”meaning I do the full bottle filter into a decanter then put the Uiio over my glass and filter it once more from the decanter. I’ve drank a whole bottle of wine and don’t feel nearly as tipsy as I have before and once again I wake up with no headache, no face flushing, no fuzziness. It is a bit pricey but if I get to enjoy red wine and feel as good as I do the next day, it’s worth it. Life is too short, drink the wine! ... show more

  • Not 100% effective, but pretty darned good
I flush beet red and turn into a hot chili pepper when I drink red wine. I get huge red splotches all over my chest, neck and face. Skin tightness, gnarly headache, the whole lot. But I love wine so much that I drink it anyway. I just do it in private, and not on a work night. So, if there is something that can make it less painful and less embarrassing to do around other people, that would be value! I bought the Üllo over the wand and the drops after reading the reviews of all 3. Stinky, cloudy wine sounded bad bad bad. In the name of science, and for the benefit of my fellow winos, I sacrificed myself to the hangover gods and uncorked a good bordeaux style blend on a Sunday night. I filtered the whole bottle into a decanter with the Üllo. I was afraid to take the first sip but was pleasantly surprised! There was no change in smell or taste except reduced acidity, which some people would probably appreciate. It made this particular wine a little ho-hum but it was still completely drinkable. (I'm about halfway through a case of this wine and I know what it's supposed to taste like, so I would pick up on a change in the wine's flavor.) I drank three 6 oz glasses of wine. (For science, naturally.) After the first one, I felt some skin tightness around my chin and warmth on my chest, neck and face, but the flushing was really minimal. It was barely noticeable at all and I would have no hesitation drinking that glass of wine in front of other people. After the second, there was no change except feeling the usual effects of 2 glasses of wine. After the third, there was still no appreciable flushing, but I started to feel some throbbing in my temples and around my eyes. It did not progress to full-on headache, but it seemed like a prudent place to stop the experiment. All in all, after my first outing, I'm pleased with the Üllo. I believe I could serve the wine confidently without fear of an off taste or smell, and I could drink it in front of guests without being asked if they should call 911 for me. Bonus! This is not a free pass for me to drink lots of wine though. My head isn't pounding, but I feel a mild ache. I would have been A-OK at 2 glasses, but the 3rd was pushing it. Maybe a second filtration pass with the Üllo would be even better and let me drink that 3rd glass without getting the proto-headache. Two filtration passes is suggested in the instructions and I'll definitely try that next time. At the end of the day, if you want wine entirely without sulfites, you should just spend the time and money to find an unsulfited wine. If you want to just be able to have a glass, maybe 2, and not look and feel like you got hit by a truck, Üllo might be an option. Good luck in your quest. In vino veritas! --- Update 7/17/22 ---- I am still happy with the Üllo and bought a pack of filter refills. I noticed that the filter refill had a slightly dusty feeling when I put it into the holder. When I decanted the bottle, a fine yellow dust was floating on the surface of the wine. I don't remember the first pack of filters that came with the Üllo being that way. I rinsed the filter off with water and poured the wine through again and it came out with no particulates that time. I did not find any difference in the performance of the filter after the water rinse. A couple of days later, I filtered another bottle but I rinsed the dusty filter with water before pouring the wine through. No particles that time either and the wine came out great. Yay! So, if your filters feel dusty, I recommend you rinse them first. I have no idea whether the manufacturer would approve of that or not- it's just my own observation. ... show more
