  • Big, clear, sturdy chart. A few fingerings are different from what I personally use
Model: Ukulele Chords
I love this ukulele chord chart. It is large, and the chord diagrams are very clear. The canvas material seems quite sturdy, and the texture and feel of the surface makes me think it will be stain resistant (as well as tear resistant, as advertised). I will probably put it on the wall in my home office, which is also where I practice my uke. I could see it also being useful for a small group or for someone giving one-on-one ukulele lessons. I've been playing ukulele for a decade or longer. I am still quite the amateur, but one thing I've learned is that there are hundreds if not thousands of possible chord shapes. Jazz ukulele players might incorporate some truly esoteric chord fingerings into their playing, going way up the neck. Most uke players, though, will never need any chords beyond those shown on this chart. (Note that this is for soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles; baritone ukes are tuned differently and use different chord shapes.) Experienced ukulele players also soon learn that there may exist different ways to play the same chord. In a couple of instances, I have learned to use different fingerings for what is shown for a chord on this chart. In those cases, what's shown on the chart is more challenging than what I'm used to playing, so I'm not sure why the chart maker chose its particular version. For one example: I play A7 by pressing down the C string at the first fret, leaving the other strings open as I strum. However, the version of A7 shown on the chart shows all four fingers pressing on strings. I've attached photos showing how I normally make A7 (with one finger), and how I would make A7 following the chart (with four fingers). I'm not sure what to make of this, except perhaps that the chart's version is "more correct" or is deemed better sounding. I don't consider this a drawback. If you're a beginner you won't go wrong by using the chord shapes from this chart. If you're curious, you can do a web search to find alternative shapes, some of which might be easier for you to make. (Other chords that I personally play differently from the chart version are Am7 and (sometimes) D7. Don't let any of my discussion put you off. This really is a nice chart, well made, and helpful for anyone playing ukulele, whether a beginner learning basic chords or a more experienced player needing a quick reference to, say, the extended chords he or she might not have in muscle memory yet. BTW, it arrived rolled, in a nice strong poster tube. ... show more

  • If only it were smaller...
Model: Ukulele Key Change
I love this thing. It's perfect if you're learning Ukelele, and would like to play songs in a key where you know all the chords, since you can transpose them from any other key. It's neatly printed, clearly organized, and packed with useful information. It's even pleasant to look at, as art. My only complaint is the size. It's huge! And maybe it really has to be, given the amount of information that it contains. But I'd like to frame it, and I can't find any reasonably priced frames that are 18 x 36 inches. On the other hand, because it rolls up, I can take it anywhere, like to the house of my friend who is also learning Ukulele. But once there, we still need a way to spread it out so we can see it while we're playing. When we unroll it, it won't lie flat. It would be better as a two-piece item, so each part could be individually framed. As it is, I will probably end up building a frame from pine that I have lying around. No glass, just a couple of layers to keep it stretched out. ... show more

  • Fabric poster, ok beginners reference
Model: Ukulele Key Change
This is a good poster overall. The printing is clear and sharp, the material is a fabric that is reasonably grippy to tape, and it is definitely more tear resistant than paper/paperboard posters. You get a fancy cardboard tube when this arrives, and the fabric poster does have a bit of a curved set to it at first. If you are planning to stick it on the wall flat, you may want to unroll, hold the edges flat/weight down to hold position, and let it relax on a flat surface for a while, like a few days, before attempting to mount. Otherwise you may be fighting with the curl the whole time. Note that the chord theory only applies to the “C-Major keys,” skipping over all the sharp/flat keys you may expect (Ab, Bb, C#, Eb, F#) for the theory side. Augmented, minor 7/Major 7, and half-diminished chords are also absent. With respect to ukulele, I can see why someone might think all the semi-tone keys are not needed to show, given capos and all, but practically, it is a big gap in the presented knowledge. Similarly for the variety of chords. To me, it is actually more logical to teach all these semi-tone keys and advanced chords given you typically have 4 fingers for 4 strings on the uke. All in all, a good beginners’ reference guide, made well, but missing some early-intermediate-level understanding of note-key relationships and advanced chords. ... show more

  • Good quality and readability
Model: Ukulele Chords
This ukulele chords chart poster is a standout accessory for any musician, offering exceptional quality in both material and design. The poster is made from a thick, high-quality material that feels substantial and durable. A key indicator of its superior quality is how it handles being stored and deployed: it rolls away neatly and unrolls without any deformation or creasing. This makes it easy to handle and ensures it remains flat on the wall for clear viewing, even after repeated use. The print quality is excellent, featuring crisp, clear lines and vibrant colors that truly pop. This high-fidelity printing is critical for readability. The chart is easy to read from a distance, and the design incorporates effective visual indicators that allow your eye to quickly and effortlessly locate the specific chord or information you are looking for. Overall, this chart provides an insightful and visually appealing reference tool that greatly aids in learning and playing the ukulele. Its durability and clarity make it a worthwhile investment. ... show more
