I bought this cable because I have an optical drive that connects via USB, but it has an abysmally short cable, making it hard to use the drive itself. I finally got around to plugging the drive into the cable, and the cable into several ports on my desktop PC. All connections with this cable and this drive were met with failure. Windows will throw an error code 10 for the drive in any USB port. The bare drive, without this cable, is immediately recognized, and the movie I wanted to watch is easily available. In the same USB port, devices that do not need as much power, like my flash drive and keyboard both work flawlessly with the extension cable. I surmise something with the cable's design prevents enough power from reaching the drive when it requests it. I fault myself for not testing this use case with the cable sooner, knowing this is why I looked into an extension cable. ... show more

Got this usb 3.0 to extend the computer jack for a wide usb internet adapter which was blocking my audio headphones jack. I did an online speed test with the adapter plugged into the laptop, then a speed test with the adpater plugged into the cable, both to the same host server. Perferct! It didn't drop a single Mbps. Failed after 3 1/2 months of use. I was using this to connect my Dell Visor (Windows Mixed Reality headset) to my PC. Yesterday the headset began to randomly lose connection. After troubleshooting drivers and cables, I determined this USB 3.0 extension cord was to blame. This cord never moves, so I'm not sure why it would fail... but it did. UPDATE: I raised this review from 2 to 4 stars for a few reasons. First, I’m not 100% sure the issue was caused by the cable. Second, this company has great customer service.     • If you're getting this for the Oculus Quest get the shorter 3 ft cable instead.

EDIT: I bumped up the rating because UGREEN provided awesome customer service and helped me find the root of the problem. Because of the link of the cord the oculus quest will have trouble seeing it due to the requirements. If you need something for that I suggest getting their shorter cord. As for other products like my external hard drive the product works pretty damn fine. I don't know if it's cause I got a faulty cable, if it's too long or what but I tried using these bad boys with my Oculus head set and unfortunately the program states it needs to be a USB 3.0. I tried restarting my pc and I tried different cables to work with this extension cord but no go. Was really hoping this would allow me to have more room to roam with my VR headset but for now I will have to keep looking. ... show more

I initially used the cord for a USB hub with 4 ports. Only one of the ports worked, so I tried unplugging/replugging, restarting, etc. Upon restart, none of the ports on the hub worked. I tried using the extension to direct connect my keyboard, but that didn't work either. I replugged in my set up how I originally had it prior to the extension cord and everything works fine. Now I'm left with a dead cord. Maybe I got a one off bad item, but as it stands, I would advise anyone to go with a different product. ... show more

I need to occasionally transfer files from one computer to the other. Specifically, Computer A is for internet access, and Computer B is for all my other computing work. I tried this data transfer cable and four others similar to it. I found they were either cumbersome to work with, impossible to figure out (at least for my purposes) or didn’t work at all. So I purchased an IOGear GUS 402 — 2x4 USB 2.0 Peripheral Sharing Switch and a USB 2.0 flash drive. And, in the immortal words of Elmer Fudd, Pwesto gazatz! I had the perfect solution. It’s like having a synchronized folder in both computers, because whatever changes are made in one computer will show up when the drive is accessed from the other. I have my browser set to download directly to the flash drive. Then with the push of a button, the contents of the drive show up on my other computer, ready to use. High quality. I had a unique use case and it worked perfectly. I bought a backpack that has an external USB port for charging, which is really just a USB extender like this mounted to the side of bag and sown into the bag to be matched up with a battery. I love the bag. Possibly the best bag i've ever had. But they cheaped out on the USB. Not only was it not fast charge enabled, when connected to my phone I was warned of slow charging. So - did I make a bad bag choice? From research, no one really touts using high quality USB, and other reviewers say it's impossible to find. So. Good bag. Bad USB. Let's do this. I buy this wire. Rip out the old one, pry it out of the mount on bookbag. I weave this wire through, wedge it into the mount, and boom, done. High quality cord.
