My wife wanted a lighter pole for catfishing she is a tiny woman. I own lots of ugly sticks, 12 I think. We catfish and occasionally offshore and pier fish. In general Ugly Stik rods are awesome. This one fit the bill, she has landed a few 30 pounders and set aside a little small for the job it is an awesome rod. We have a Kastking 4000 reel on it, little over kill for the rod but for fish not. We have 50 pound braid on it. About 2 years now really good rod and no issues. The plus is it is light for her, strongest than most and fishes great.

Dunno must have gotten a factory one-off. box was damaged upon receipt. guides were misaligned, no biggie to correct. rod had a slight (like 3⁰) curve up toward the tip, probably due to the box being practically bent in half. small dots of epoxy were to be found on the edges of the guides but none in a way that would impede line, however longterm said line may wear a groove in said epoxy and chafe itself. This rod does swing easier that my 6'6 medium 2piece GX2 (which reportedly weighs 6.6oz, I never weighed it though).. I did weigh this one since I couldnt find the information anywhere and had a scale kicking around. The 6'0 medium-heavy 1piece ugly stik elite weighs in at 6.7oz. endgame, I like the carbon better.. I just wish they made THAT in a 6'0. Rod will go back since the bend in the box makes me think there might be damage or stress fractures to the glass/graphite inside that will show itself in a few years use. The reel tensioning area design is poor - a small piece of cork for your hand to grip with the rest being formed/shaped plastic. I did notice the reel seat was not of fuji make which for an 'elite' rod was a bit surprising and honestly might have brought this 'elite' more into its namesake category allowing also for more cork where the hand sits. tl;dr nice rod but it got sent back due to possible shipping damage and lack of ergonomics.

Didn't get 5 stars because the reel seat is very basic. Not good for sensitivity but if you use a bobber that doesn't matter. These tips don't snap and break like most ultralight rods. I have this one and a GDX2. These are worth the extra 10 bucks.

The rod itself is fine. I’ve got an older elite and the cork and seat where the reel looks great. This one however looks strange where you mount the reel. There’s a gap and it just looks bad.
