Description

These are lots of about 750 pieces of pre-cut special silver solder chips for jewelry fabrication. USA Made and lead-free and cadmium-free; chips are 1mm x 1mm; easy flow 1325 degrees; for jewelry fabrication, teaching, jewelers, craftsmen; beginners should have adequate live instruction; grab a tweezer full of chips and set them down on your charcoal block; no more cutting; the chip sizes are excellent to work with and pretty consistent; one customer suggests you use paste flux for a good join; use a small paint brush dipped in the paste flux to pick up and place the solder pallions.

I use a flux spray. I performed a test (see pic) using a piece of Easy, Medium, and Hard from uGems (left to right). Each behaved identically, in order -- first the easy, then medium, then hard. A very good idea, but not necessary. Pieces this small are hard to grasp and place unless preheating is done to the item that it is being applied to. Also hard to gage how much is needed and a very steady hand is required to place the pieces with or without the use of flux or glue or other adhesive.

Works as it should. This solder does great by me, not sure if other people are over heating or not putting enough heat. But I haven't had a problem with this solder. It's easier if you put your torch on it. Melt it into a ball and place it onto your solder joint. Hey we all have a learning process.

Unlike any other solder I have used in jewelry making, these pallions have been frustrating and sub-par. They arrived oxidized and I have been unable to fix that. All attempts to use them have required me to file the lumps left behind off the metal and try again and again.
