Description

Kester flux-pen is a unique tool for rework and touch-up soldering. It allows controlled application of flux, eliminating the mess from flux bottles. The chisel point allows for work in very confined spaces. The flux pen is ideally suited for tab assembly no-clean and surface mount rework application because it can deliver flux to a specific area. Kester 951 is a Halogen-free, non- rosin organic flux pen that is specifically designed for rework of conventional and surface mount circuit board assemblies. The extremely low solids content (2.0 percent ) and nature of the activator system results in practically no residue left on the assembly after soldering. There are no residues to interfere with electrical testing. Kester 951 exhibits improved soldering performance to minimize solder bridges (shorts) during rework operations., country of origin - United States, manufacturer name - Kester.

  • Quality flux pen under 10 bucks
Item Package Quantity: 1
Good no clean pen made by a reputable company (Kester). My pen had a recent date code and the flux flows out of it nicely after you press the tip in a few times on something firm. Very satisfied for seven bucks. UPDATE: Flux no longer flowing out nicely. Have to really press it hard on something and still doesn't flow heavily like it should be. Good flux, bad pen design or something. ... show more

  • Expired data code
Item Package Quantity: 1
'Ordered two tubes. When received today, both tubes were marked with a DOM (Date of Manufacture) of March 2015, and with a shelf life of one year. Today is May 02, 2016, somewhat over one year from the DOM. 'Probably still useable, but I cannot gave a favorable rating to a product that has already expired when I receive it. 'Both tubes also have minor flux leakage onto the tubes and labels. ... show more

  • I cannot get any flux to come out
Item Package Quantity: 1
Maybe I got a bad pen, but I simply cannot get any flux at all to come out. I have shaken the pen vigorously and I do hear the flux inside the pen (and I agree, if 10mL is the total capacity of the pen, it seems like it's only 1/4 full at best). I've pressed the tip and tried shoving it further up into the pen to ensure it's making contact with the liquid inside the pen and no matter what I do the tip is bone dry. The date code on my pen is 07.12.13 (maybe almost suspiciously recent since I placed my order on Sept 4, 2013) so unless it's a counterfeit, it's not a case of it being old. My suspicions that it may be counterfeit, however, are increased due to the warning label that suggests I read the material safety data sheets for "FRECAUTIONS". I don't know. Honest typo or someone slapping a knock-off label on a cheap knock-off. Additionally (and I inspected this under magnification to be absolutely sure it wasn't a legit "r" and "n", the label warns to not "take intemally". I'm fairly convinced this is a knock-off and would avoid unless you are feeling lucky. ... show more

  • Poor Quality Item - May Not Be Genuine Kester Product
Item Package Quantity: 1
I had to depress the nib several times to get the flux flowing - the nib was stiff and it ended up denting it. Seems like a poor quality item to me although reading the positive reviews it seems like mine might have been a knock-off. This feeling is supported in the fact that a paper label sticker has been (poorly) wrapped around the pen itself ... show more

  • EXPIRED!!
Item Package Quantity: 1
As others have noted the flux pen arrived expired by one year!! Check the DOM and DOE code right when it arrives. Hard to return due to shipping of flammable materials.

  • Good product, questionable seller.
Item Package Quantity: 1
Problem is not the Kester 951 Flux...been using it for quite a while and it does what it's supposed to quite well. Yes, I do switch between Kester and MG Chemicals, both make great products. Issue was the seller (epartsetc) shipped me one that was 10 months past manufacture date, and the flux has a stated shelf life of one year; one to two months is typical. Not to mention, when I did try to use it, the flux poured out of the pen...store tip up and the tip drys out. Seller did refund. ... show more

  • Very handy

This is a very easy to use way to apply flux. I use it for building and repairing quad copters and it makes soldering a lot easier.

  • Used on PS3 YLOD
Item Package Quantity: 1
I used this flux while performing the reflow on my 60GB PS3. The pen tip is slightly hard to depress but not overly difficult. It's a bit runny, but for this use, it's perfect as it enables all the flux to reach the soldering points under the chips. My PS3 started up fine and leaving it on for a few hours, I didn't encounter any overheating problems. I then did a 4-5+ hour gaming session and the PS3 still worked perfectly. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I have no idea if this flux really helped or if it was a combination of the MX-4 or copper shims which I also applied. ... show more
