  • Better Than The Original
My old circuit breaker finally went and couldn't be reset anymore. It was the one from my central AC. I thought the AC was going bad because this circuit breaker kept tripping on hot days when the AC is needed the most. Before replacing the AC unit, I wanted to replace the circuit breaker first, get the unit running again temporarily, so that the repair man can determine exactly what needs to be replaced. I found out quickly that this circuit breaker is very hard to find. In doing my research, I came across this circuit breaker, manufactured NEW by Connecticut Electric. It's an improved, safer version of the original and completely up to today's code standards. This circuit breaker fit like a glove and was an exact replacement. To my pleasant surprise, after replacing the circuit breaker, the AC performed like new and the circuit breaker hasn't tripped once in several weeks, and we had a couple of 90+ degree days in a row during that time, which would have tripped the old, breaker. The old breaker was weakened, having tripped several times by our original AC unit and the breaker was never replaced when we purchased our current AC unit. I am very happy to have taken the time to do the research and find this breaker. It saved me thousands of dollars in not having to replace my AC at this time, which is still functioning great. If you're in need of a Zinsco circuit breaker, give Connecticut Electric a try, or any site here on Amazon that carries these breakers. They're better than the originals which haven't been manufactured now for years. ... show more

  • A very tight fit, but it works
The breaker for our Central AC kept tripping on hot days in full sunlight. I checked the amp draw from the outside unit; one leg was drawing 18 amps and the other was 21 amps. This circuit is powered by two 40 amp breakers, so the AC was drawing nowhere near enough current to trip the breaker. I bought this replacement CE 40 amp 2 pole slim breaker and it was an incredibly tight fit--i had to gently tap it into place with a rubber mallet but it worked. So far the breaker hasn't tripped and my ancient air conditioner is running fine. Another reviewer mentioned the same issue with his central AC. Zinsco panels are terrible, but $60 to replace a bad breaker is much better than $1850 to have an electrician replace the panel. ... show more

  • It's a very tight fit
Good build and for a after market part, the quality seems to be solid. If the housing in the bottom contact area was slightly chamfered, the installation could be easier. The fit is very tight but necessary I guess. Out of 4 circuit breakers I bought , one fit with elbow grease and the others required a light hit from a rubber mallet to be placed onto the buss. I would buy this again should the older C/B's fail. Price point is excellent. ... show more

  • the right breaker for my panel
I like that it is narrow and it only requires one space in my panel box which allows more area for future use. I used it for a water heater.
