Both pieces of the Rio luggage set meet the FAA carry-on regulations. You can easily slide the boarding bag over the handle of the 21" expandable, wheeled upright, making travel a snap. This US Traveler luggage set's metal hardware holds up to the rigors of the shipping process. Densely woven, 1200D polyester is very strong and keeps water from seeping in through the outside. Used for carryon on international United trip. Held up great and will probably still be useful on several more trips. Packed to full capacity I was still able to easily lift it into the overhead bin. Easy to roll around. Lightweight. I saw others getting picked out to check their carryon at the gate, I was allowed to take this one inside the cabin. The only thing I didn't like is that the suitcase has only two rear wheels. The piece will tip over if not careful. Otherwise suits my needs for light travel only. But can withstand airport treatment as well.

The set was nice. Everything worked fine including the handles. It was sturdy and it got the job done however unless you are packing little small sandals or something there is no room for shoes. This is maybe a 2-3 day bag without the shoes.

Got this to replace a carry-on suitcase that got manhandled during a recent flight. Unfortunately, even with the expanding top, the volume is a lot less than my previous suitcase that fit . Seems well built, but the 4 wheels really take up space that could be used for additional storage inside the suitcase within the same exterior dimensions. I bought this to go on my cruise vacation. I needed a carry on size for the plane and wanted to pack light. This fit seven days worth of clothes, bathing suits and even three fancy theme night dresses, plus my snorkeling equipment and jewelry. It was pretty packed tight, but it has the extender which came in handy. The matching bag was perfect for my extras and the side zipped pocket held my passport essentials. The only thing I would've liked to have had was rolling wheels, but I was able to tilt and walk with the set, so no real lifting. I love this bag! It holds alot more than I expected and was a great value. I dont have time to figure out the strategic packing arrangement so it won't tip forward but I solved the problem with super glue and cabinet bumpers.
