Adapters for connecting hose to NPT female threaded pipes of different diameter. Read more We recommend use of Teflon tape to ensure seal of the threading, as shown in Figure 1. It is suitable to liquids, gases and even for high vacuum. A hose barb fitting connects hose to pipes, typically has a male-threaded end which mates with female threads. The other end of the fitting is a barbed tube, which is inserted into a hose. You could add an adjustable hose clamp to keep the hose from slipping off the barbed tube. The hose barb fittings are made of brass, which is considered more durable for heavy-duty use. Threads used on these nipples are NPT. ISO Certified Suitable for Water, Air, Oil, Gas and Fuel. 1/4" NPT male threads seem to be undersized, this fitting threaded all the way up into female fittings without seating. Didn't seem safe to use for my propane gas line application. Not worth the hassle of returning, though. The brass material was very clean, and the machining looked great.

    • Barb is not 3/8, it is closer to a 5/16.
The barb is not 3/8 inch, it fits loosely in a 3/8" hose and is visibly smaller in diameter than other 3/8 in hose barbs.

Fits the 3/4" NPT fitting I need it to, and fits the 3/4" hose perfectly. Haven't put the fittings in use yet, but considering the seal with be achieved with teflon tape and a hose clamp, I can't imagine they won't work perfectly.
