It's sturdy and the rounded nubs are less dangerous than spikes or sharp nut/bolts, but still grips your shoe really well. It makes his mtb look less "big box store" too, along with a few other swapped out accessories (it's an REI bike).

Worst pedal ever made. If I could give half a star I would. lasted 1 hour after install when bike and rider went down on grass going 5 mph. Completely ruined pedal connection to arm. Absolutely terrible product. Do not buy. Fit was poor at best, all looks no functionality.
