  • Glad I ordered "M," not "F."
I really like this pen. The vacuum fill is fun to watch, and the pen holds a lot of ink. The writing is smooth, and in several days of use, over several pages of handwriting, I have yet to encounter a skip. The ink comes out with a pleasant wetness; neither too dry nor too profuse. The only surprise for me is that the "M" nib is about what I would expect an "F" nib to me. On a really nice paper, like Rhodia, that works out to be a rather fine line indeed. On more absorbent paper the line spreads out to more what I think of as the product of a medium nib. I might add that I also have a TWSBI Diamond 580 that, several years ago, suffered a cracked barrel. Just after I ordered the Vac 700, I separately contacted the company about ordering a replacement barrel for the 580, and they simply sent me one for the cost of shipping. Great company to deal with, and now I've got two great pens to play with. ... show more

  • Can’t go wrong with a TWSBI
Great fountain pen, as are all TWSBIs, whether vac fillers or piston fillers. Very good nibs, weight, balance, ink capacity workmanship — oh, and they’re good looking. That about covers it.

  • A smooth and consistent everyday pen.
I purchased the TWSBI Vac700R a year ago because I was looking for a cheap but good pen to use with colored inks with and with out the gold/silver flakes. Even after a period of non-use, there's been no dry nib, or skipping. I am a lefty and prefer the fine or extra fine nibs--less ink, faster drying, less bleed. This pen writes smoothly on many types of paper and card stock. I have experienced shadowing in journals less than 100 GSM. I have used ink bottles like Visconti's travel ink bottle for the Homosapien and Twsbi Diamond 50 Ink bottles for filling universal piston ink converters. Both of which have made filling my pens mess free. So I immediately purchased the TWSBI Vac20a ink bottle for this pen. Knock on wood...I haven't had any problems filling this pen. Although the pen has never burped or sputtered on me while writing (even after flying), there are small droplets of ink in the cap. I don't take any special care transporting the pen. I just drop into my coat pocket and go; but there's been no leaks. To my surprise this pen has replaced Faber-Castell Ambition as my everyday pen. I will likely buy two more so that I have more than one color at my disposal at all times. ... show more

  • Reasonably priced, cool looking, comfortable writing instrument
This is a good "every day driver" type fountain pen. I use it at work and I'm hard on pens. Refilling a vacuum reservoir takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, no problem. The pen always catches people's attention and I appreciate its weight and "hand feel," meaning it fits and feels good in larger hands. And maybe most importantly, it writes well, rarely skipping, always an even flow. A very nice value. ... show more

  • Better than my Lamy at a 1/5 of the cost
I really like this pen, I bought this after I lost my Lamy Dialog, which was a bit of a blessing as I never liked it, but it cost so much I felt compelled to use it. Anyway the Vac700r medium nib is smooth, the vac system works well, build quality is superb for this price point. Only quirk is the need to release pressure when writing a lot, but that not a major issue if you remember to do it... ... show more
