    • These books are so funny!
I admit I am in my mid-30s and I find these books to be laugh out loud funny. Younger audiences will love Waldo and Sassy as "Salty." The illustrations make the book even more fun. I have read all three in the series and I will continue to buy them all until Ms. Flatko stops writing them. In this particular story, Salty and his boy Stewart go on the class trip to the museum. Salty thinks it is not so boring as Stewart promised, especially when they get to the dinosaur bones. What dogs can resist bones? Hilarity ensues. I especially love the dogs' focus on lunch, ice cream and snacks. I find it hard to believe no one notices that Salty looks like a dog and he is taller (per the illustrations) even than the teacher but who cares? Audiences young and young at heart will love these silly, easy reads for their wonderful pictures and funny dialogue. I will definitely be revisiting this series in the future. This book series is such a blast for my grandsons who I read to each night we are together. Once you start to read the series, you'll understand the headline and when I get to these two words throughout the book, I stop and let my grandsons say, "Liver, Ohio" in unison as they laugh! Imagine how hilarious it would be for two dogs to don a trench coat and attend school with you! Imagine their take on the food in the cafeteria, the smells in gym, the teachers, and school life. Of course, you could never have a better friend, or get in more trouble! As with many series books, like "The Terrible Two" (another SUPER favorite series), you should start with book ONE and read all the way through each laugh-riddled adventure! Enjoy! ... show more

LOVE these books! My 6, now 7-year-old and I could not wait for more to come out after laughing out loud over the first one together. 'Class Trip' does not disappoint! Falatko seems to know just what is going on inside a dog's head. If you are a dog owner you will know just what I mean. These books would make a great read-aloud for teachers or parents because they are enjoyable for all ages. ... show more

My family loves these books! They are funny, perfect for upper elementary who want a light-hearted romp, and work as read-alouds for younger kids as well, especially with the illustrations every few pages. We are big fans of Sassy and Waldo, and their human family, too! They remind me a bit of the Kate DiCamillo DECKAWOOD DRIVE books in that they feature fun, quirky characters that students easily love. ... show more

I love this series so much! The humor is excellent, the illustrations are the perfect addition to the story. I do literacy talks for educators and librarians, and always recommend this series. Great for your reluctant or struggling reader, too.
