Overall, it's cool to be able to change the lights and have so many options for patterns and colors. Before buying, just be aware - First, this is NOT one continuous strand of lights. It splits in the middle and goes out like a T. I bought this for my staircase so I had to run the cord halfway up my stairs and then start wrapping one string from the middle to the top, and the other string from the middle down. Second, this is really not made for linear use (staircase, palm trees, etc). Most of the patterns do not work and look weird since this is made for a Christmas tree. However, the random blinking, fading, and color options all look ok, so it's fine. Also I read reviews that mentioned mapping issues. I could NOT get the mapping to work, but again, I think the mapping is for a Christmas tree not a staircase. I do really wish they would resolve those things and this product would be PERFECT. ... show more

Update: I have lowered from two stars to one due to one strand of 400 no longer powering up. To appreciate what this means, I have to remove the nonfunctional strand, wait for replacements, restring, attempt again to do the 30 minute mapping which will almost certainly fail due to "cloud server overload". It was clear that the company rushed the product out with a shoddy app to meet seasonal targets, now I have to wonder if they also cut corners on manufacturing. Original: Holy smokes if you are going to make a smart product you HAVE to invest in the smart side of the equation! Both Android and iOS apps are buggy, but iOS at least let's you map the lights...eventually. You will have unending crashes as you try to setup a playlist, and eventually you will just give up and put on a single effect rather than keep trying to build even a few into rotation. And if you get a few in and dare to sneak just one more in after taking a break from the madness? Crash! And you get to start over from scratch since there's no way to save the playlist! Poorly planned feature design. Impossible usability. Save your money this season. Maybe they'll throw some cash at an app developer next year. If not, maybe the price will be more palatable to justify the hassle of dealing with the garbage apps.. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I love the twinkly lights it’ has many designs in the app. Almost 60 different patterns and they keep adding new patterns works well with Alexa. I have a 7ft tree so I had to buy 2 250 leds to cover the tree and actually see the patterns projected on the tree from the app. As you can see from the video I posted ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I am beyond excited about these! My video is how 400 lights look wrapped completely around a 6 1/2 foot tree. The Twinkly app that you download on your phone has 30 different designs to choose from. All of these light patterns can be edited and changed to different colors, brightness, speeds and more! The media could not be loaded. Update from last year 12/21. Sorry so late but finally had time to put everything up. Put the lights on the tree and opened the twinkly app. Found there was a firmware update and did so. Both sets of lights now sync with no issues and work together well. Could not be happier. Only upgraded to 4 stars and left 1 off because of the customer support from last year. I was so happy I actually went and purchased 2, 250 light sets and 1, 100 light set for the front porch. Brought them home and put them up. Grouped all 3 sets together with no hiccups. Happy camper now. The lights are actually great and work by themselves. It is when you group them, they have a problem. I have 2 sets on the tree totaling 850 lights. When using only 1 set all the lights work, the sequences are great and I love the lights. When grouped together, the lights in the second sequence have a hard time syncing. It can take up to 2 minutes to sync at times. That same set, second in sequence will not shut off when using the power button. It will shut off temporarily when using the dimmer slider and then turn back on. I have to unplug that set of lights. I believe this is an App issue and not the lights themselves as I ungrouped then regrouped with the other set of lights second in sequence and the set I was having trouble with was fine but the set that was responding now has the issues the 1st set had. I have also tried resetting the lights. I think once they get the bugs out of the app, the lights will be awesome. 12/28/2020 Update from 12/20 Contacted customer support. They asked for more info, like my email, app firmware and a screenshot or video of the situation. Sent the info with a video. Recieved another reply saying the video was to long and asked if I could upload it and send a link. I uploaded the video and sent the link. No reply since. Today I receive an email stating my ticket is closed. How? You never even tried to figure out what the problem was. Customer service rates this product low. ... show more

    • Can't string together ..Bah humbug!

I have been using the Twinkly tree lights for a while and they are great but I was very disappointed with the icicle lights. You can not string them together. Unlike the tree lights there is a connector only on one end. So you can't string them together and power several strings (as you can with the tree lights) with on power source. You have to run power to each and every string which in my case to use on the front of the house I would need to run 5 power cords and not every string ended where it was convenient to run power. Also while not a deal breaker the lights are so small and light they don't hang very well. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. A little pricey? Sure. But, if you want the coolest tree ever that will amaze friends and family, put these in your cart now! I just wish I would have gotten the 400 string instead of 250. Each LED is like a pixel. So the more you have, the higher the "resolution" your tree will be. I put 250 on a 5 ft tree, and it is nicely covered. But, the effects would be even better with more lights. I'll be buying more throughout the year for next year's tree! Note: be sure to get all of the same kind. You can't pair the rgb with the rgbw. ... show more
