The one I bought was the white color, all wood, narrow version. I had earlier tried another brand of narrow bookcase that was part metal and part wood. I like this particle board (mdf) all wood version better. It doesn't have many screws and actually prevents the wood from warping or breaking because of the way it mounts the shelves on posts instead of screwing into the wood like many bookcases do. The package you receive will be just a little bigger than the size of the shelves. There are no long pieces that go the entire length of the bookcase. Each tier of the bookcase is assembled individually and each tier above is supported by the one below. The wood used is sturdy and quite stabile once the entire bookcase is assembled. And the majority of this bookcase can be assembled without tools by hand by one person. You will just need a Phillips screwdriver (the one they include is useless) to install the door hardware and the hex key that is included for a few screws in the top. While the shelves are about 14"W X 10.5D", the supports mounted inside reduce usable shelf space to a bit less than 12.5"W X 8.5"D X 11.5"T. Since there are no sides or back on the upper shelves, you will need to be sure not to put items that could easily slide or roll off a shelf. If you have cats, they likely will consider this like a cat tree and take great joy in pushing everything off the shelves just to watch the objects fall. If you have kids, be sure they don't climb on this bookcase. While it's shelves are sturdy for light weight objects, they could tip over or break the shelves easily. It's highly advisable to install the wall attachment hardware for safety. The bottom shelf is fully enclosed with a wood and plexiglass front door, opening from right to left. The cardboard walls of this lower shelf slides into grooves in the wood during assembly. You cant change the height of any of the shelves. They are permanently mounted during assembly. If you would prefer not to enclose the bottom shelf, you can just leave out the 3 cardboard sides when assembling. However, the inside of the wall slots are unpainted and the slots will be noticeable if you choose to do without the walls on this lower shelf. The other shelves are identical and open. I really like this narrow bookcase and recommend it. I use it in a narrow wall recess next to a fireplace that normal bookcases wouldn't fit in. While it's not great for holding large heavy books, it's fine for knick knacks or to serve as a open display case or planter shelf. I use it to show off some of my 3D prints I make. The white plastic coating and paint is very thin. Straight out of the box I had a lot of scratches and brown smudges that I couldn’t wash away. The plexiglass door is all scratched up and looks really bad. The manufacturer could easily avoid this by using plexiglass with the peel off film on both sides. I will probably try to buff it out and if that doesn’t work I will use frosted contact paper because the scratches are very visible. Quality issues aside, it was very easy to assemble and it took me under a half an hour. All the pieces are labeled with stickers that peel off easily. They are also grouped together so it is easy to see what you have. It is sturdy enough for what it is. There are anti tip straps if you have rowdy pets or kids. I didn’t use them and I feel that it is stable enough for my household. The door is really flimsy though.

This small bookshelf can make good use out of areas that would be too shallow to fit more average-sized furniture. It's not premium quality by any means, but it looks decent and gets the job done. Assembly is straightforward using the included hex-key/screwdriver, no other tools required. Just be sure not to over-tighten the screws holding the door magnet, as I did and had to find an alternative fastener. The unit doesn't feel super sturdy while you're putting it together, but it seems okay after everything's tightened up. You'll definitely want to attach the anti-tip straps if you have active kids/pets around. The shelves are made of rather thin particle board (just under 3/8"), so the bookcase is best suited for holding lightweight objects. There are no capacity ratings stated in the instruction manual. The cabinet door isn't as nice as I'd hoped. It flexes inward if you press near the bottom-right corner, and the window is made of easily-scratched plastic. There are quite a few scuffs present from factory handling, and the manufacturer really should have applied a peel-off film for initial protection. Overall, this mini-bookshelf is fine for the budget furniture that it is, but I wouldn't store anything too heavy on it.
