I got the purple because that is just the way I am ;) At first I didn't think it did that great of a job because I had a small slow stream of warm water running over the eggs as I was washing them in the sink...and that made the silicone bristles too soft...USE COLD WATER and you will be a much happier camper! ... show more

Our chickens have to stay in a large enclosure, we live in a semi rural area and people, us included, have dogs, and a lot of dogs love to chase, yes and eat, chickens. So, even though we change the hay in their enclosure we still get poopy eggs. I used to use a Scotch Bright green pad to clean them, but I have arthritis and having to turn the eggs over and over to get every spot got dangerous for the eggs, I would drop one, or two, or......With this wonderful egg cleaner I can nestle it in the palms of my hands, put the egg in, give it a couple turns and VOILA, clean eggs!! This works great if you're cleaning the eggs right away, but if the eggs sit on the counter or especially in the fridge, it's very hard to clean with such soft bristles.

They are not abrasive enough. When getting dried stuff off the eggs. Even using water, you need something a little more grit.
