  • Good sound (both for input and output,) and comfy to boot!
Color: Gen 2 Black
(~3 year update: though my first pair still works perfectly well, I purchased a second pair for travel. These are a great gaming headset option and I'd highly recommend them!) ---- First: the main complaint people have about these actually appears to be caused by the user failing to charge them. Yes, they are wired (auxiliary vs. Bluetooth) headphones, and many wired headphones don't require charging to fully work... But these have 'standard' and 'powered' modes, and the latter will drain the internal battery after a few long sessions, after which they automatically revert to the 'standard' mode. In 'standard' mode, they work perfectly fine for output, but the microphone doesn't work well; others can hardly hear you (if they can hear you at all.) In the 'powered' modes (Xbox or PS,) the output is amplified, frequency response improves dramatically, and the mic becomes super crisp. I do find the Xbox vs PS switch perplexing; both modes work (for both out- and input) with my Xbox Series X, but I actually find the PS mode provides better sound for me. There are also dials above the 'mode switch' for both the output and microphone volumes. Once dead, they don't take a terribly long time to re-charge, and I even found that if they happen to die while I'm in a party, I can simply use my extra long USB-C phone charger to plug them in and continue to use the 'powered.' So, while the need to charge them is a slight annoyance, I really like that I don't have to stay on top of it to make sure they don't die. They are very lightweight and comfortable; as someone with a smaller head, I've found many headsets will end up either gradually slipping off, or feeling so heavy that I get a headache over time. Not so with these! I can even wear thick-rimmed blue light blocking glasses without issue. The headband has supple pleather cushioning (which has stayed fully intact with no annoying flaking,) and the ear cups are cushy and lined with fine mesh. When not in use, the ear cups will fold out so as to flatten, making it easy to put them in a case if you're going somewhere. All in all, for the price I'd say these are exceptional gaming headphones. I've had both generic headsets ~$15 cheaper than these, and specialty headsets that were at least double the price... And these far outrank both. I'd absolutely recommend them, along with a 10ft USB-C cable just in case you find out mid-game that you forgot to re-charge them ;) ... show more

  • Love this headset, but can be a little annoying as a PC user.
Color: Gen 2 Black
I've been using this headset for six months, and I would give it a 4.5. Rounding up to 5 stars because I am fairly happy with it (comfortable to wear, 12 hour battery life, can be used while charging, and can also be used while off if you don't need the boosted audio/mic). My biggest issue with this headset comes from me being a PC user. Twice since I've had it, the mic would simply not work on my computer, despite everything working. It turns out your computer and drivers need to be completely up to date for this headset to be working fully, and at it's best. It's a fairly easy fix, but can be a bit annoying to have to check my drivers one by one to figure out what the problem is. If you're a console user, you probably wouldn't have this problem. I do love this headset, but I wish I'd known this going in. It would have saved me a lot of trial, error, and frustration. EDIT- November 7, 2024 I had this headset for 2 years. It developed a hairline fracture just below the hinge point on the left/microphone side. I bought the two year extended warranty through Asurion, and they refunded me the full amount I paid for this headset in the form of an Amazon gift card. I'm sad my Recon 200 is gone now, but I am extremely happy with my experience. I will definitely use the money to buy another one. The sound quality is fantastic, and people in game/Discord have told me that the microphone is very crisp. After two years of use, the headset showed very minimal signs of wear and tear, apart from crack of course. I will note that I am pretty gentle with my electronics. If I hadn't had the warranty, I'm sure I could have super glued the crack, and continued to use this headset for much longer. Can not recommend this enough! Great value for a very very solid headset. Turtle Beach is my new go-to! ... show more

  • Worth the price
Color: Gen 2 White
I’ve been using the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 for a couple weeks now, and I’m honestly pretty happy with it. The sound is super clear, and the bass boost gives it a nice extra punch, especially during action-heavy games. It’s also surprisingly comfortable—I wear glasses and didn’t feel any pressure even after long sessions. Mic quality is solid for party chat, though it picks up some background noise if the room isn’t quiet. Just a heads-up: you do need to charge it to get the full sound features, but it still works without power (just not as strong on the bass). For the price, it’s a great headset that does the job well. Would recommend it if you want something reliable without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Great Budget Gaming Headset with Solid Bass Boost – Comfortable for Long Sessions
Color: Gen 2 Black
Picked this up as an upgrade from a cheaper generic headset for my Xbox Series X, and it’s been a solid performer for the price (around $50). The amplified audio with the always-on bass boost really shines in games—explosions in shooters feel punchy, footsteps are clear, and the overall sound is immersive without being muddy. The variable mic monitoring is a nice touch; I can hear myself without shouting, and the flip-to-mute mic picks up my voice cleanly for party chat—no complaints from friends. Comfort is a big win here. The updated memory foam ear cushions (with that athletic fabric) keep things cool during marathon sessions, and the ProSpecs design is genuinely glasses-friendly—no pressure points even after 4+ hours. Lightweight build helps too, though the plastic feels a bit entry-level (not flimsy, but not premium either). Battery lasts a solid 12-14 hours with amplification on (longer than advertised in my use), and it charges in about 2 hours via USB-C. Huge plus: when the battery dies, it still works in passive mode for basic audio—no dead headset mid-game. A few minor gripes keep it from 5 stars: • Some sound leakage at higher volumes—people nearby can hear what I’m playing. • The mic can be overly sensitive at max monitoring (picks up breathing/keyboard clicks). • No real surround sound processing, but for this price, it’s not expected. Overall, excellent value—Amazon’s Choice for a reason, especially if you’re on Xbox, PS5, or multi-platform. Beats most sub-$60 options hands down. 4 stars: does what it promises really well, with only small trade-offs. Would grab another if this one ever gives out! ... show more

  • Fantastic head set. Very pleased gamer.
Color: Gen 2 Black
I love these headphones. I use them for gaming with my PS5 and Xbox one. Has a switch for Ps5, pc, and xbox. You recharge them when the battery gets low. Seperate volume and mic controls. I would definitely recommend them.

  • Love them
Color: Gen 2 White
I bought this back in 2018 and absolutely loved it. However, it was getting old, and the charging plug kept falling out and would stay charged. Also, the material in the ear cushions were breaking off. Despite its age, it lasted a surprisingly long time, so I decided to purchase it again at a great price. I’m thrilled with my second purchase. The new design is fantastic, and it’s incredibly comfortable. It fits better than the older model, which is great because I’m a female who wears glasses and has a smaller head. I don’t feel any pressure on my glasses, and it fits quite well even at the smallest size. The ear cushions are better, the material won’t peel off like the old one. The durability is impressive, and the battery life is amazing. It’s definitely a good value for the money. The weight is not too heavy, which is a plus. I thoroughly enjoy using it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable headset. I’m so glad I bought it, and I figure it will last just as long as the last one did. One thing I really appreciate about this is that I can hear my own voice while I’m talking. It’s called variable mic monitoring. It’s way better than the old one and the old one was pretty good. ... show more

  • AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Color: Gen 2 White
These are junk, I found a different glasses-friendly brand to replace with (see end of review). I purchased these headphones at the end of December 2022, received first week of Jan 2023. Brand new, not refurbished. They lasted ~5 weeks before the sound went out in one ear (right ear). This is within the warranty period (60 days). I submitted the warranty claim - what a joke. This is not my first warranty claim on an item, but this is the first one where I will just eat the original cost of purchase and count it lesson learned and never buy from them again. I will say - when these worked they were fine and were very glasses friendly - WHEN they worked. I got my RMA with shipping ticket, along with a long e-mail of instructions, caveats, and terms. First: you have to provide the shipping box - that costs $. Second: It takes 10-14 BUSINESS DAYS from when they receive it for them to ship out a replacement. Combined with shipping time and weekends you are without your product for 3-5 WEEKS. I barely even owned it for 5 weeks before it broke! Third: They do not have to replace you item with a new item. They can give you a refurbished item. That's used. I purchased a brand new item and owned it less than two months - I should receive a brand new replacement. Fourth: From my RMA, "If a package shows clear signs of tampering or abuse, or if it is shipped in a dangerous or unsanitary condition" Turtle Beach has the right to reject it and return it at the customer expense or just dispose of it. Ok, dangerous or unsanitary, I get, although in 60 days even the nastiest person can only do so much. But package tempering or abuse - the customer can't control that! So if UPS (their chosen carrier) damages my package then I am to blame? Finally: The warranty on the replacement item is 30 days or whatever was left on your original warranty, whichever is greater. So, you started with a joke warranty period, your product was defective, and you want the customer to believe this new one will work fine but give LESS coverage time. Clearly, Turtle Beach knows their product is pure dung. I have now replaced this junk with the Steelseries Arctis Nova 3 for $40 more. After about 20 hours of use I can say they are VERY glasses friendly, which is what I wanted. I had initially avoided the Steelseries because the pairs my husband and kid owned squished my frames when I tried them, but these do not. Considering the longevity of those Steelseries, I don't expect a warranty claim to be necessary. ... show more

  • Incredible 3D spatial sound on my PS5
Color: Gen 2 Black
I wanted to get an inexpensive headset for my new PS5 and I hit a homerun with this headset! After hooking the 3.5mm jack into my controller, I followed the included instructions and set up my PS5 for the output audio. It even had a test for 3D audio and it is on point! My first MW3 Zombie campaign was so much better when I could tell which direction enemies were coming from and trying to sneak up behind me. I found that I can use my 6 ft. USB-C cable to charge while using it, so I will never have to worry about down time. The mic is not obtrusive and is out of my sight line when lowered. I do like the flip up to mute feature, less ambiguity than a toggle switch. I haven't tried using them in the "off" or unpowered mode because...why, it has power, use it and enjoy it. The cushion is comfortable and didn't make me hot over a long session. I have small ears, but after 3 hours your ears may be a little sensitive to the areas that touch or stay in contact, under pressure. No biggy, take em off, take a break and go look at nature. Fine when I had to also wear reading glasses as well, no pressure spots. Very good balance of sound and the additional volume wheel for hearing your voice better over the headset is great. For less than $40, these were well regarded by a couple of review sites and did not disappoint me at all, I highly recommend them, ... show more
