They are not total blackout, but still do an awesome job of blocking most of the light. The first and third photos are with the camera flash on. The second photo with the curtains closed is without a flash in late afternoon light. The aqua color is very pretty and brightens up my living space. For the price of these curtains, they are great! They look more expensive than they are and I would purchase them again. I purchased the white curtains and they do have a bit of a sheen to them. Although they are not truly 100% blackout, they do filter much of the light and prevent our playroom from getting too hot. My favorite feature is that they prevent people from seeing in at night.
