Awesome -- Except they sent a 5881 quad set. I suppose it's my fault: I got the box, didn't open it, then went on the road for weeks/months. Just opened the box: it's labeled EL34, but the sleeves and the tubes in the box are 5881. I guess I can always but a new amp?

    • Faulty but returned without hassle
Received a matched quad of tubes .... matching not perfect across all four tubes based , but close. However when tested on my tv 7 d/u and sencore might mite vII. Two tubes had very high grid emissions and one tube reported shorts on two of the pins . I returned these without hassle . Always test your new tubes before install .... save you the cost of repairs. ... show more

These are my favorite El34s they sound stellar and sweet with a very forgiving high end that pleasantly sings when the amp is pushed. I have been using Tung Sol exclusively in all my amps pre and output sections and have no desire to try any others. Highly recommended.

    • High-quality Russian tubes
The good old days of tubes are gone.....well not really. As compared to transistors, tubes produce warm analog tones and are still the major selection by professional guitarists. I play guitar as a hobby, and bought Mesa-Boogie's Mark-V after years. The Mark-V originally comes with 6L6GC, but it has bias switch to allow switching to EL34's. Boogies' genuine EL34's are made in Germany at $300 for quad. Russia, Hungary, China and other limited nations still seem to make tubes, and Russian tubes are reliable. This quad set was $100, and produce excellent sound out of the Mark-V. NEVER handle them with bare hand, and if you did, wipe clean with alcohol. ... show more
