Description

The Jr. Practice Mat is designed for use with the Jr. Kip Bar but can be used as a small tumbling mat or safety mat for other equipment. This mat is 4” thick and makes a great small mat for cushioning falls and landings. The Jr. Practice Mat features handles for easy portability and non-skid material on the bottom. They do not contain lead and have passed testing requirements enacted by the Consumer Protection Safety Improvement Act of 2008.

This mat was purchased for my 7 year old daughter. She is an Allstar competitive cheerleader and was having a mental block in getting her back walkover. She had previously jammed her elbow pretty bad when her coach allowed her to attempt her backwalkover before she was really even ready to backbend unassisted. I chose this mat specifically because it is 4 inches thick and I wanted her to feel like if she fell while practicing she would have extra cushion. We have only had this mat for a month before she nailed her back walkover! The comfort of knowing she had the extra cushion if she fell was a huge success in helping her with that mental block! She likes to warm up, stretch and practice skills on her mat every day! There is no funny smells, its light weight and we take it outside, upstairs, anywhere she wants to practice with ease. My three year with sensory processing issues has a terrible habit of throwing herself onto her knees. Her OT therapist recommended we have a climbing jungle gym to assist with her development so I built a gym in our living room that has hardwood floors. They also get pulled to the center of the floor and used for all sorts of attempts at gymnastics. These are like what we had in gym class growing up. I didn’t expect for this to be as sturdy and cushioned as it is. My kids use it beneath their aerial silks and it’s pretty perfect. It wouldn’t be good for tumbling, but for silks and acrobatics, it’s just right.

We put this under a bar/rings swing hanging in our basement that our 2 and 4 year old play with. They fall off onto it all the time and just laugh. Very durable, thick cover, high quality. Looks like what a professional gymnastics gym would have. (We have 4" thick one.)

Very squishy nice and thick mat but if there is a metal post or bar under the mat it will still hurt if you fall on it because there is a metal bar on the ground connecting the two ends of my gymnastics bar and I fell down and it hurt for the next several days but other than that I really like this mat! ... show more
