Looks like it would install and work fine, but the configuration is incompatible with our 2011 Subaru Outback despite the claim of compatibility. The gas struts in our car require a ball joint on *both* ends of the rod, but the unit sent had only one ball joint on the end that mounts to the hatch. The other end had a fixed-angle hinge with constrains the assembly at the wrong angle -- it cannot connect. Interestingly, on the ZF Aftermarket website for this part (TSG223008), the series of compatible years skips from 2010 to 2012. Year 2011 is missing. So the Amazon description and compatibility check (which I did, to be sure) are in error. The one-star rating is due to the incorrect description.
