I dropped them while sitting on a low stool, and the spring that pushes the snips open popped out from between the handles. I rigged it so that they can still hold open, but the spring is now digging into the metal while set up like this, so I don’t know how long they’ll last. I can’t figure out how it was originally configured, either. However, I did decide to cheap out with these things. I debated buying the Knipex pair for ~$35, but figured it was just one job (I’m an electrician but don’t normally do low voltage), so I might as well save myself the money. While I expected the cheap pair to not last as long, I didn’t expect them to last only two days of doing Shielded CAT6A connections While they were jerry rigged so that they’d still open themselves, I was able to get through the ~200 cables that needed connectors. But I’m still disappointed that they still seem to be broken ... show more
