Unhappy that the control solution was not in the box as mentioned in the user guide that came with my order. So could not test the unit before my first reading. Not sure if it's an oversight, but without that, I can't validate if the measuring device is calibrated well for accuracy. Other than that, I felt there was good detail for instructions, espcially for a beginner, and everything else was as expected.

Although I occasionally wear a CGM, I like to manually check my blood sugar against it to see how accurate it is. I have owned one of these True Metrix Air monitors for two years and have been very pleased with its performance. Unfortunately, I left it in a hotel room on my last trip so I got this new one. The kit has everything one needs to get started. The monitor is there, 10 lancing needles (you will need more but they are inexpensive and available everywhere), 60 test strips, testing fluid, a lancing pen, and a small zippered bag to hold it all. There are also pretty detailed instructions with clear photographs for someone who is new to all of this. Since I am experienced with blood testing and with this unit, I was able to get test results within a couple of minutes of opening the kit. It is hard to compare prices on these units. The kit I bought two years ago was more expensive but it had more test strips and a very nice case which had elastic bands to keep each item in place. The pouch that comes with this is sturdy enough and holds everything, but not in an organized fashion. Still, for a unit that works this well, the price is not unreasonable, especially since prices on everything have risen in the last two years. I first bought True Metrics brand because it had been recommended in several "best of "lists online. I have found the unit to be pretty accurate and easy to use and I would recommend it. The only issue I have, and it is not a huge one, is that the advertised app is unsophisticated and I've given up on keeping my meters synced with it. It's not a dealbreaker for me because I can just record my numbers if I need to. The monitor will hold up to 90 days worth of results so that's another way you can keep track if you want to see how you are doing over time.

It’s not reading the same as my other device. I’m not sure which one is correct. It’s off by at least 10 points compared to the other one it could be accurate. I’m just not sure.
