Even with the backlight on (which doesn't stay onnfor long) the display is low contrast and difficult to read; with the BL off, in low light it is difficult to read at best. More proof that when you buy the cheapest there is, there is a good chance you will get the cheapest there is. Goes back tommorrow... ... show more

Has worked well for occasional use for a couple years. But, once it said the battery was low, it stopped working completely, and won't work with any other batteries than what came in it.

I was surprised as how easy this was to use. The connection to my iPhone allowed extremely easy tracking with the iBD software available at iTunes at no cost. Accuracy is very good, numbers were consistent across several readings within a 5 minute span. Do not use if you need accuracy for insulin if you are true diabetic. The test strips are rated for 126-167 with the normal control solution. I got 158 on my test, which explains why I seem to get slightly higher readings than I think I should. They seem to be about 8% high or 10-14 points too high. To be fair, that is about 92% accuracy and is as good or better than 66% of the meters. But it still fails the fda recommendation of +or- 5%. I was disappointed to find out on agamatrix site, that the last time they had it certified was 2007. Then it was +or- 15%.. I keep forgetting the one that was 20 points too high. I took 2 tests of 2 strips each within 10 min. 1st 2 were 150 and 160. Next 3 were 141, 142 and 144. I have had mine for 3.5 weeks and I quit using it a week ago. I opened new container of test strips and tested some with the solution. I got three successful tests but a bunch of errors because the strips are too loose and move when you try to get a sample no matter how much you push them in the slot. ... show more
