Great bookshelf once it is assembled but the instructions for assembly are poorly documented. If you can get this right on the first try then you are genius. I did not believe the other reviews that called out the bad instructions because everything was going perfectly until I was 65% done and noticed that the shelves could not be screwed in because the holes would not line up. The box is very heavy! The directions are drawings, no words to assist you. After 4 hours my son (thankfully) insisted on helping me and it took him a couple of hours. The product was worth the money to me.

My husband and I assembled and reassembled this a couple of times. We are still happily married, but you must look VERY closely at the drawings as to where and how the parts are placed and line up. I wish the connecting fittings were black to match the shelves, as you can see them.

I suggest you place the screws in loosely as you are trying to figure it out. It comes with so many pieces. Pay close attention to the holes on the top to make sure you are doing it correctly. The instructions are terrible. A video would be better for this item. Was it worth the trouble? Yes!!! I am such a hoarder and product junkie. This is my 3rd piece from this company. I absolutely LOVE their furniture because it's very sturdy (the last things I bought were 2 huge free-standing closets... they are visually pleasing, affordable AND very, very sturdy!), the prices are typically very reasonable, and the furniture looks pretty decent too. The downside to all of this is you do have to assemble it all yourself, but this company packs it all up very well, so no damaged parts typically... All packed very organized, set with all the nuts, bolts, tools and very clear, easily understandable directions. So, if you need sturdy, reasonably-priced and reasonably-attractive furniture, this is what you're looking for! ... show more

This is a really sturdy shelf. This product is an assembly nightmare with very sketchy insturctions. With over 100 various fasteners, it is not suited for rookies.
