First, a caveat: I have not yet used this luggage as it just came today. However, it appears to be exactly what I wanted. It is very light weight! 2.5 lbs lighter than the old one I had which it is replacing, and that 2.5 lbs can make quite a difference when trying to get it into an overhead bin when you are short (like me) and not young anymore. It is the same measurements inside and out as my old heavy one, so will fit just as much. It has 2 nice size pockets on the outside. In the picture it looks like there is just one pocket, but there are two and both are a good size. It seems to maneuver very easily. I tried it on both a hard floor and on carpet and it moved easily. I went with the two wheel rather than the 4 which are 360 degrees because those wheels cut your packing room by more than 2". It appears to be very well made and sturdy. I am very pleased and can't wait to use this as we are soon heading out on an 11-day cruise where this is the only luggage I will take. After that it will be a 22-day cruise, and again this will be my only piece of luggage. I think this will allow me to meet my goal of traveling light, and fit easily into my flight's overhead bin.

I must have watched more than I care to admit enough videos about the best carryon bag. I then started to get ads from Monos, Away, Level8 and more. While these bags may be great I really need a carryon bag that will fit the most restrictive measurements like the carryon bag rules of Air France. The Travelpro was a contender and I had to see for myself how much I could stuff it to be a believer. It arrived on time from Amazon and I let it air out for about 12 hours before taking it to my bedroom. I did not use my packaging cubes but instead decided to see how much I could put inside. 5 men’s underwear 5 men’s calf length socks à la Vans 4 men’s travel pants 2 men’s jeans 1 sweater 1 hoodie 4 dress shirts 2 polo shirts I then used the compression straps and still had some more space. To say that the Travelpro devoured what I put into it is an understatement. I really liked that it is not a clamshell design. Disclaimer. I was a previous eBag motherlode roller bag guy and while the eBag served me well, it’s clamshell design was something I didn’t like. I also didn’t like that the right side didn’t have any straps to compress down. I then threw the Travelpro down the stairs a couple of times with it filled. No issues. It’s a beast. My only complaint is the lack of YYK zippers. The Travelpro zippers are above average at best but they’re not YYK. I can’t wait to take it in back to back to back to back trips from High Point NC to New Orleans to Anaheim then onto Vegas in October. Note: I have a TomToc 40l backpack so between the Travelpro and the TomToc, I have about 82l of space without checking a bag.

I fly an average of only five to six times per year. I like this bag. It’s light weight, easy to maneuver, and so far the zippers, handle and wheels are durable and working well. This 20” size (21.75” overall) fits easily into most overhead compartments. I prefer a carry-on with two wheels that make the bag less likely to tip over or to ‘runaway’ on uneven surfaces. My mother gave me the same/similar Travelpro carry-on 10 years ago that I love. That old bag is in great condition and is the reason I purchased this new bag for my husband. My only complaint is what several other reviewers noted: this bag has a strong, chemical-like smell. It’s not a “new bag” pleasant kind-of scent. We’ve used the bag twice and the smell did not permeate clothes or other belongings. However, the smell has only lessened a bit. I’m hoping it eventually goes away. If you’re sensitive to odors, I wouldn’t recommend this bag. Otherwise, it’s a great carry-on.

I had been wanting a carry on luggage for sometime as I recently started getting into flying for vacation and I wanted an option for when I’m not checking a bag. A frequent-flyer-friend of mine suggested I get a soft sided Travelpro for carryon since it has more give and a case with two wheels since 360 spinner wheels tend to add to the height and may make it harder to fit into an overhead bin. I used this for the past week for a 6 day/5 night trip to Disney and it worked out very well for me. I flew with American Airlines and I had no issue fitting it into the overhead bin, both before and after some Souvenir shopping. I fit all of my clothes (and clothing accessories like ponchos and bags) into this luggage and placed most of my toiletries into my backpack. I only used the extender on my way home to fit some extra souvenir clothing I bought. The extender makes one side of the big deeper, so it looks like it has a belly. I like the handle on the side which is useful for lifting up into the overhead bin. The two wheels are very smooth, make it easy to roll and the stands are great for keeping your bag sturdy and stable. The only issue I had with this bag is that it is a little wide for airplane aisles to roll. It just about fits going down the aisle, but that means I have to roll it behind me or push it in front of me while trying not to bump into seats or people. It was easier for me to just carry it in my hand through the aisle. Fortunately the case itself is not too heavy, so carrying it by hand through the plane was a very minor sacrifice. I’m looking forward to using this bag again as a carryon! While I only slightly regret not getting the 360 wheel version, I’m very happy with this purchase.
