The size of the TravelPro Maxlite 5 Compact Carry-on 20” is exactly as stated. (I measured it). Which means that it’s very small for a 5 day trip. This carry on meets the size limits of Hawaiian Airlines. I didn’t check it in, so I can’t comment on it’s durability at being thrown around. All I did was put it in the car, wheel it to the gate, put it in the overhead bin, wheel it to my hotel room, and vice versa. It survived. This is my 1st spinner bag. I had a 2-wheeler which always tipped over, so I wanted 4 wheels to prevent tipping. I expected this not to tip at all, but it did tip over once at the airport. Of course right in front of TSA check point. So, it’s not 100% tip-proof. Pros: -very lightweight -rolls easily on flat surfaces -doesn’t tip most of the time -seems durable enough (strong zippers zipped, powerscope handle went up and down, carry handles seem strong, softside is strong material which didn’t rip, wheels didn’t break, hold straps worked inside) Cons: -I aired it out for a whole week in the garage and backyard. Still has strong odor. -rollers got caught on some cracked/stone walkways -the expandable feature is a joke. It’s only about 1.5”x8.5” expanding. Maybe 1 pair of W sized 12 jeans. The reason is that only a portion of the bottom expands; the top 1/2 of the suitcase tapers to “non-expanding”. This case does not deserve ‘expandable’ in the description. -when you open the suitcase on a rack, the lid does not stay straight open. Because the bag tapers, the lid is at an odd angle and it falls over. I didn’t like this at all. It seems that after a lot of traveling you are putting stress on the lid hinge and it won’t last long. Plus, it kept falling over and doesn’t stay open. -the front pocket is almost useless. I couldn’t fit my paperback book in it. Overall, the case is ok. It’s not perfect, and I think it’s overpriced. I was disappointed in the so-called expandable feature and i don’t like that the lid doesn’t stay straight open. But it should serve it’s purpose and hopefully it lasts for a long time.

We are traveling to Europe and were looking for a quality suitcase that fits the very restrictive carry on baggage dimensions and weight that many European airlines have (ie British Airways). We already own 3 pieces of Travel Pro luggage and have traveled extensively in the US and abroad with them over the past 4 years with zero issues. They are excellent cases and roll very easily. Unfortunately our current Travel Pro carry on suitcases are just a little too big to carryon in mainland Europe so we opted to go with the Maxlite 5. It fits the dimensions and only weighs 5 pounds or so which gives you more weight for clothes. As you can see I fit a large and medium packing cube with no problem in it. The Maxlite 5 dosen't disappoint with carrying handles in all the right places, outer pockets, even a TSA approved combo lock. It rolls very smoothly and looks very well made. Considering the smaller size vs our traditional carry on Travel Pro I am impressed how much I can fit in it. Well worth every penny and you should have this suitcase for years to come.

This is a very large piece of luggage that when fully packed for a month long vacation exceeded the 50 lb weight limit on international flights. As we were a couple travelling with two of these large suitcases, we were able to shift some items into the second piece of luggage. I am concerned that the wheels are very small and although they did not break, I was concerned that they would do so and that they would not be durable in the long run for many trips. When getting off the ship, we encountered a walk way with space between each plank, and the wheels would get stuck between the slats. A big concern is that they would break but they did not break. I would feel better with a piece of luggage that size with eight sturdy wheels and not four of them. This is a great luggage brand but I am skeptical that these wheels are going to last. A broken wheel on a piece of luggage weighing 50 lbs would be a minor disaster for seniors who would not be able to lift them!

LOVE how maneuverable this suitcase is. Bought the smaller 19" carry on which is wider than the 21" and fits well under the seat in front or overhead. Holds a LOT! The 25" was good but on my first trip using it, the zipper pulled away from the actual suitcase after the 1st of 8 flights. The zipper itself was not broken but the stitching came out. I had to buy a strap in Thailand to make sure it didn't open on the rest of my trip. I registered the suitcase for the warranty BEFORE I left and contacted the mfg. on the trip. By the time I heard back, 8 days later, I was home. In essence they told me since I didn't buy it directly from them, they would not repair, replace or authorize a return and I "should try" to see if Amazon would take it back. My response to them was, "so the warranty is useless?" They never responded. Amazon graciously took it back and I re-ordered. I hope it was a one off problem because I really like both bags, but BEWARE of the MFG WARRANTY, you can't count on that and if I had this issue after a year of having the bag instead of 2 weeks, I would've been out of luck.

Bought 2 of these for work trip CA to South Africa. Both were as described, had loads of room and held up impressively with over 60 hours of air travel and getting tossed around. I overpacked both for the return home and zero signs of wear and tear. Bought a luggage strap to attach the 2 and pulled them easily through the airports. Highly recommend this to all looking for large, lightweight and lower cost. Tossing my heavy weight 3k Tumi!
