  • A good choice for airline travel
Size: Checked-Large 28-Inch Color: Olive/Black
This luggage has now survived two international airline trips and done well. It has excellent capacity. The wet pocket inside the lid is very handy for damp items. There is another pocket inside the lid for other small items that you don't want to submerge under the other items. The zippers appear to be robust. The ability to unzip and expand the capacity is handy. Saves refolding dirty laundry when packing to return! And it has straps to help compress the luggage and take strain off the zippers. ... show more

  • Great piece of luggage
Size: Checked-Medium 25-Inch Color: Olive/Black
Love this suitcase! I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to share my experience. I choose the medium size which was plenty big for my 11 day Alaskan cruise. The suitcase is already lightweight, and the medium size was perfect so I did not pack too much. I had plenty of leftover room, which was very helpful keeping the suitcase light and manageable. The outside pockets had plenty of room for a pair of hiking shoes, and flip-flops. The inside pocket for items that could leak or spill was the perfect size and I had plenty of room left over there as well. The rolling wheels were very sturdy and strong and they really do look like rollerblade wheels. I rolled the suitcase over many obstacles, including railroad tracks, and it was super easy to manage. ... show more

  • Sturdy construction, with plenty of interior and exterior storage areas
Size: Carry-On 22-Inch Color: Blue/Black
The Travelpro Bold 22" Rollaboard measurements are right at the maximum allowable carry-on dimensions I have seen for many airlines. The Bold 22" Rollaboard will give you the most storage space you can get with a carry-on. When it comes to luggage, I tend to prefer the 2-wheel upright versions to the 4-wheel spinner versions. For me, the two wheels are more protected, and less likely to get snapped off or damaged during travel and baggage handling. 2-wheel upright luggage will also tend to be more stable on lightly sloped surfaces. I have never had any issues with maneuverability with my previous 2-wheel upright luggage. The Bold 22" Rollaboard sits perfectly vertical and is very stable when resting on the wheels and bottom support bar. As long as the weight of the items loaded inside the carry-on are reasonably balanced front-to-back, there should not be any issues with the carry-on tipping over in either direction. However, if you hang a purse or other luggage over the handles that extends over the front of the Bold carry-on, you may run into stability issues depending on how heavy that purse/luggage is (the same would be true when using a spinner-style carry-on). The Travelpro Bold 22" Rollaboard frame is solidly constructed. There are three rugged, securely attached cloth handles positioned in convenient locations for lifting. The Bold 22" is lighter than my smaller Eagle Creek carry-on that it is replacing. The aluminum pull-out handle feels like it may not be quite as sturdy as my much older luggage, but it could just be that lighter and still sturdy materials have been developed over the last 20 years. The pull-out handle has a zippered cover for protection, and I will be sure to zip this up if I need to hand the carry-on to the baggage handlers at the gate. There are two zipper styles: - There is one sturdier style zipper that has thicker pull tabs and the metal hoops for TSA locks. - The rest of the zippers have smaller teeth and smaller pull tabs. They still seem sturdy and zip smoothly, but they are not as large. These zippers are for the multiple exterior and interior compartments. They don't have the metal hoops for TSA locks, but you might be able to fit a TSA cable lock through the zipper pull tab holes (keep in mind, though, you might damage the pull tabs or zipper if the lock gets pulled hard) I really appreciate all the different storage areas available in this carry-on! Inside the main luggage area there two additional mesh pockets and one waterproof storage pocket. There are three external zippered pockets for easy access on the aircraft. One pocket is located on the back for holding your cell phone or car keys (But not both, unless you love to get your phone screen scratched!) Note: The Bold's "tablet" external storage pocket is designed for smaller tablets, and won't hold screen sizes larger than 11". The Travelpro website gives a list of example tablets that are or are not compatible with the carry-on. Note that while the Bold 22" Rollaboard has "expandable" capability, it really doesn't get you much more space - maybe an inch or so of additional depth. This is a feature that you will probably rarely use. Overall, I am very satisfied and impressed with the Travelpro Bold 22" Rollaboard construction and design. I had to search through a lot of luggage online before deciding on the Travelpro Bold line. I picked this up on sale, so it was a nice bonus! ... show more

  • Good overall value, with a few drawbacks to be aware of.
Size: Carry-On 22-Inch Color: Grey/Black
Good two-wheeled bag with a few flaws. Been traveling with the 22” carryon as my primary bag for over a month: planes, trains, automobiles, cobbled streets, & stairs. It’s capacious, durable, has built-in riveted straps, rolls well. I’ve concerns about the extendable handle holding up, but no problems thus far. Things I wish were different: 1. Two of the interior pockets use a wide mesh material that’s prone to snagging. Would have been better to use a finer mesh that still allowed for ventilation & visual assessment. 2. The front exterior pockets lack any means of securing their zippers with locks or carabiners. 3. The innermost front exterior pocket is lined with microfiber for delicate electronics, but again can’t be secured. I also found it too small for a 10” tablet in a slim case. 4. At 22.5”, it’s slightly over the carryon limits for United & several other major carriers. Budget airlines will certainly make you check it. If you’re confident of seat upgrades or choosing early boarding, this may not be an issue. 5. The zippered expansion/compression feature is so small as to be pointless. In summation, this is a practical soft-sided carryon that should withstand long term abuse at half the cost of luxury brand luggage. Could be improved with a few minor changes. ... show more

  • Tough and light carry on
Size: Carry-On 22-Inch Color: Olive/Black
I bought this piece of luggage for a one month trip, 2 weeks of which were traveling to 4 different locations in Japan. I’ve typically used a backpack but was looking for something to pull on wheels (and not those spinners that can get sheared off by baggage handlers.) I was a little hesitant at first due to some of the reviews but this seemed to be my best option. Excellent choice! This is one of the most perfect carryon bags I’ve used over many decades. The zippers perform perfectly and the side cinch straps do their job well. Ignore the comments of people who had difficulty with those particular items - they are not a problem. Plenty of room for a 2 plus week traveling as you do not need a humongous suitcase to travel. If you stay in hotels in Japan and other Asian countries you don’t want anything bigger as many hotel rooms are small and navigating large luggage on planes, trains and other public transportation is a nuisance. I’ll be interested to see how this weathers traveling over the next several years but I see nothing in the design or materials that suggest there will be problems. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality of this bag so if you’re looking for something that meets airline carryon metrics and can pack lots of your stuff while surviving baggage handlers (when a small plane has little/no carry on space), buy this bag. ... show more
