  • Pricy but feels very solid.
Happy customer here. I take it camping and when using propane heat. I wish it cost less, but the competition does not inspire confidence.

  • Great for travel
Is pricier than other models, but is very travel friendly. Takes up very little room in a carry on bag. Easy to operate and set up. Provides that peace of mind knowing you are relying on your monitor not someone else's.

  • Travel must have
Easy to put in a checked bag. I can now stay at hotel with peace of mind from a carbon monoxide leak

  • Works Perfectly: Handy CO Detector for Travelers or if You’re Regularly Around CO Risks
The media could not be loaded. Bottom line: it works well. I sprayed the detector with carbon monoxide gas. It quickly detected and measured the gas, and triggered 3 alarms: flashing red lights, an audible alarm, and a vibration alert. Watch the video for a quick demo of the CO detector in action. It’s very convenient and portable – easily providing peace-of-mind anywhere you go. If you travel a lot – especially if you stay in B&Bs or nightly rental homes – you can never be sure their CO detectors are functioning. Even in hotel rooms: it’s never a bad idea to just toss this alarm on your nightstand for added protection. This detector is also handy if you have a seldom used wing or room for guests, or just for added peace-of-mind when you’re hosting a kids’ sleepover in the basement, etc. And in a winter power outage when you might be desperate for any possible source of heat, this detector could truly be a lifesaver. If you’re regularly around possible sources of CO gas, this is a great tool to keep with you. It comes with a lanyard so that you can easily carry it around or even clip it to your belt loop or jacket. Example uses include in or at construction sites, commercial garages, campsites/tents, RVs, attics/crawl spaces, anywhere kerosene or propane heaters are used, enclosed outdoor kitchens/BBQs, etc. CO is lethal with no warning. This is a nice tool that can definitely be a lifesaver in these types of situations. ... show more

  • Great for travel
This is a great device that is good for travel. My wife hears horror stories of people dying in resorts from carbon monoxide poisoning, so you bet we have to travel with one of these things. The buttons and controls are simple, and easy to use. It is not easy to accidentally turn on in a bag of luggage. The waterproof and durable features are great! ... show more

  • Works, but had querks that make it not perfect
The media could not be loaded. Update: I hung it on the pegboard of my garage since I'm using a diesel heater in the winter and this unit delivers. I know it works because every once an a while when I start my car (with the doors open) and I sit too long in the garage I hear this alarm go off and see the reading. So I'm getting a periodic test and its solid. My garage can get as cold at 20F and this still works. Knowing that I know that it detects and I can also know my diesel heater isn't outputting CO make me feel safe. I do have to turn it off an on again to get the low digits to clear sometimes (that was in my original review). I'm still happy because it works in cold temps and serves a legitimate purpose for me. Original Review: I was very excited to get this especially since the description says operational temperature -13F to 131F. But the manual says 20C +/- 5C. So.... I'm not 100% certain, but I do want to use it in my car and other places in a cold climate where I could be exposed. So I'm not sure which one is correct. Overall the construction is decent. It fees solid. Ships with a battery that says 1200mah which is excellent. You need a 2mm allen-wrench to open it (it does not ship with the wrench, but has a battery per-installed so you shouldn't need to open it for a while). The bottom of the battery has an insulator taped on it. When putting it back together after testing it went into some weird constant vibration mode (see video). I had to open it back up and disconnect the battery to reset it. After that it has been fine. With the unit turned off it draws 7.5micro amps (that 0.0075 ma's). Its to be expected, and thats a low enough current draw that its not significant for a 1200mah battery. When powered on and in regular operation the draw is variable between 40micro amps and 70 micro amps (give or take). Even at 70 microamps on the 1200ma included battery, you are close to 2 years. Maybe a little less, but overall as advertised. And of course depending on how many times the alarm gets set off since it vibrates, beeps and lights up when that happens. Thats all nice and good, but will it actually detect and alert me to CO? I took it out to the tailpipe of my car and within a few seconds the alarm was going off. Meanwhile a home style monitor wasn't registering at all. I tried a couple of the home ones. My guess with the home ones the sample rate is a lot slower since its more about buildup over time. I can't speak to accuracy of any of these units. These are just my observations. And since we're talking safety, make sure you know what you are doing and just use this as supplemental information. For my home I have multiple CO alarms just to make sure. I would never rely on this as my primary and only means of detecting dangerous levels of CO. You'll want pro fire department grade equipment for that. The meter has a clock built in for some reason. It was easy enough to set, but I see no secondary use for it other than being a clock. Also after my test readings the unit failed to completely reset to 0 (It also has a peak value memory, that was fine). It sat around 16 on the first time and 10 on the second test. This was even though I was in known clean air. To get it back to 0 I had to turn it off and on again and let it go through it's calibration cycle. But the important part was that it did register and alarm in in the presence of my tailpipe (tested outside). ... show more

  • Sturdy; alerts when activated
This is one of those things I hope is really working. It has a function to alert if you touch certain areas which simulate detecting Carbon Monoxide. I hope to never find out it wasn't working due to actual Carbon Monoxide present. Will update if any issues. I plan to expose it to a real life situation which should alert and will update if it does not. Will add details if it does as well. So far feels sturdy in hand, not cheap. ... show more

  • It gives me peace of mind....
This is a straightforward device with easy-to-read and understandable instructions. My hope is that I will never find myself in a situation where this device is actually activated, but it's definitely worth having it around while traveling or camping just to be sure!
